Description I originally wanted to edit this into the 9: Genesis comic, but this was easier to do...this will only make sense to you, if you've read the Russian subtitles/translation for 9.

Basically, each of the stitchpunks are a part of the Scientists soul/personality, right? But each stitchounk is also a memory of important figures in the scientists life, such as loved ones, close friends, etc.

9 is the embodiment of the Scientist himself, at least, personality wise (and apparently younger). He has no memories whatsover when he first awakens, but as the story progresses, 9 meets the others, and begins to regain memories of his former life (very slowly, and one at a time). By the time he experiences 2's death his memories are becoming more familiar and vivid.
Later, at 2's funeral, he watches longingly, feeling a great sense of loss, feeling as if a part of him was now gone (which is technically true). And is beginning to pick up on the fact that each of the stitchpunks are closer to him than they initially thought.
It isn't until he finds the holographic message from the Scientist that he is then convinced of his memories/feelings of familiarity with the others, but they don't truly believe him because they don't have such memories (but maybe a sense of familiarity with 9 himself).

So, 2 was apparently Scientists older, but closest friend that worked with machines/woodwork, who also helped Scientist with his projects and machines. He apparently helped develop Scientist into who he was.

I DO plan on doing some other scenes for the other stitchpunks, 7 and the twins are next.

I didn't really think of all of this and it didn't click until you've explained it. I mean, I knew they were all connected and were supposed to represent people in the Scientist's life like that, but it didn't truly click until just now. The topic and the scene are so melancholly, only because they are butnotthepoint. 8B;; The way you colour still amazes me, especially when adding several different colours together like for the water. I'm too chicken to try that myself. 8D;;; I love the blue reflection fragments against 9; they're really good touches for the piece, just like for the movie. The seriousness of the topic, the expressions, just everything about it is sad but displayed so well. Lurvely job m'dear.

Have you read translated Diary of the Scientist? I think 9 forum has it.
I missed your 9 art. I can't believe it is 2011 right now (and almost 2012). And, unfortunately I dont know where to find a version with subtitles, I think that in Russia there is a disc with it, but it does not even make sense to you... Although I would like to see English version.
Anyway, this makes me to rewatch 9 again. Good movie is good.

Hmmmm, I remember vaguely reading a few sentences of the diary, but it wasn't translated well, so I gave up. XD And I think the russian version is almost impossible to find now. )8

I look forward to seeing the other characters as well. You always seem to bring out the best of the movie's emotions.

I don't think the russian adapation is anywhere online anymore, it's always being taken down, but it's worth looking for if you can find it. I haven't been able to find it for over 2 years. XD;; And go and ahead and post it there if you want. ^^ Maybe after 2's funeral page?

My only problem with the Russian dub is that 1 is basically the embodiment of the chancellor and the chancellor is evil. I do not like viewing 1 as evil because he's not.

I think 1 is basically the "guilt-ridden" self/feelings of Scientist, because he let BRAIN fall into Chancellors' hands, and for that, he felt a great deal of guilt for letting it all happen. Maybe 1 had Scientists guilty feelings, but also had Chancellors behaviour (which seems likely) and because of his..."guilty feelings", he was overprotective and mulish, but proved himself good in the end, and righted the wrongs. Therefore, was nothing like Chancellor in the end.
