Description

Updated with progress.

Constructive criticism would be much appreciated!

Another piece that (I hope) will go to my portfolio. I have yet to wait a couple of days to notice more mistakes because even though right now I like it I know I could improve it.

Illustration based on the trilogy "His Dark Materials" by Phillip Pullman and the movie "The Golden Compass".

Characters Lyra and Pantalaimon belong to P. Pullman, art's mine.

This is so gorgeous. I loved the "His Dark Materials" trilogy (I really wish they had continued with the movies).

thank you! I know, me too! I got very attached to the story and characters and I actually thought the movie was pretty good too (unlike most movies based on good books). It's a pity it's not exactly a large fandom as far as I could see, not a lot of fanart and stuff...

You're welcome. (-^╰╯^-)

And hai, I did too, especially Pan and Iorek.

As for the movie, I don't see how it didn't continue on. It was better than the first Harry Potter and had amazing effects and animations for the animals. The storyline was put together well, and it wasn't rushed or thrown together (like they did to the Eragon movie, though I liked it too. Saphira was animated beautifully.). But considering that not many people seem to know about the series (as you said) I guess I understand why it never blew up the way Rowlings work did.

Oh damn yes, also I died a little inside when Scoresby and Hester died for Lyra...I'm getting excited, lol, I don't know many people who have read the books whom I can talk to about them. I know! I found the Eragon movie pretty disappointing, though it would've been interesting to see what they could do with the second books as movies. There would've been so many things in the Amber Spyglass and the Subtle Knife that would've looked amazing on screen (Cittagazze, the spectres, more Mrs. Coulter/Asriel interaction, aghhhh)

(It's ok, x3 I know how it feels to want to chat about something and no one knows what you're going on about.) Oh my gods yes, I was tearing up when I read that part. Especially how tender the final moments between him and Hester were- just holding her, knowing she was going to disappear.    I was like NOOOO! Lee, don't die! Hester, come back. And then when Iorek found his body... yeah, it kinda weirded me out that he ate him, but I guess it's good. Iorek wouldn't have made it otherwise.

The Eragon movie was a bust because they rushed through it. There was enough material in the first book to split it into two separate films.  But I agree, the visual effects for the second and third books would have been EPIC; especially the Cittagazze and Spectres! (I heard rumor that the reason they cut production is because too many people were saying the books represent the downfall of a corrupt Catholic church. Which kinda makes sense because the trilogy does includevelopment parallels to our own world, such as when the Ice bears have to relocate because of "warming." But if that's the reason, I'm pissed! People shouldn't take things so literally.)

Awesome! I absolutely loved the His Dark Materials books - I read them to my daughter when she was little, and Lyra was a major inspiration for Morta.
