-Johnathan Waterman. The Waterman family is a rival to the Durant family. While the Durant family came from a class of commoners, the Waterman family were nobles. When Griffin became the Head of the House of Durant, Johnathan became very jealous of him and they became arch rivals.

BACKSTORY

Childhood (newborn - age 10):
Griffin Durant was born in a commoner family, the firstborn. After his parents had worked through the ranks of the military class as they were both knights, the Durant family became nobles and began to work their way up. Also, his sister Madeline was born when Griffin was 9.

Teenage years (11 - 19):
Griffin had dreams of becoming a knight like his parents were. So, he decided to enroll in the Langdale Academy for Knights. However during that time, a war broke out between Nembel and other neighboring countries. He began to serve as a squire for other knights, despite not being able to receive the respect from the others. Especially Johnathan Waterman, a fellow squire who always got him into trouble. When his parents were proclaimed dead, he began to prove himself on the battlefield and defeat many great warriors. He was recognized as the Head of the House of Durant.

Adult years (20+):
After graduating from the Langdale Academy, Griffin began to do what his parents did: work his way up through the ranks. As a knight, he was well known to be skilled on the battlefield. He could flank his enemies in one go. After the war was over, he was promoted to Head Guard of Nembel, sworn to protect the country and it's inhabitants. He also began to learn magic from his friend and head mage, Spencer Huxley.
