The problem with "political correctness", is you throw out historical context. While stuff in Tom & Jerry could be considered "violent" if done in cartoons now, it was merely standard fare in the Golden Age of Animation. Same goes for blackface humor (several T&J cartoons featured this). Warner Bros. actually is releasing cartoons uncut in the Looney Tunes and Popeye collections, because they're aware that the stuff of that time came from a different era and should be taken with a grain of salt. Tom & Jerry, on the other hand, got butchered in DVD releases. They still edited some of the cartoons, and completely omitted two from the DVD series. That's why I boycotted those DVDs. I'm not buying Tom & Jerry on DVD (ANY Tom & Jerry, mind you), until Warners fixes this issue. And they won't, because the sets are already out, and they've moved on.

Political correctness is bullshit and a direct violation of the first amendment.
