Good thing he won't kill you, he needs you to tell their story XD
And that's an awesome analogy, lol

I think I have to teleport myself into your books and start a "make-the-bloody-demons-smile movement" xP.
But seriously though, I love the time consuming clothes (and everything else) <3. Does he wear red because he is the Lord of the South?

yes, that is exactly it. Lucian would insist he always wear red as a child, but Luthinos liked blue (because it is his fathers color, and the official color of the East). Luthinos wanted to be just like his father, but Lucian is not the softest person, particularly when trying to raise a leader, and Luthinos often felt inadequate as a child - Β it was actually a source of conflict between Lucian and Nire for quite a while, because she saw him as a child, and Lucian saw him as a leader-in-training. first borns are always the experimental children after all lol. I would like to find a way to insert some of these things into the books, because there is a lot of material when the kids are growing up, its just that none of it is all that exciting XD - I think I do have a way to incorporate some of it, but I have a feeling that a lot of the story wont ever be in a book.
And I know, seriously.... none of them smile. its like trying to make a snake smile. Ezuriel and Seophan smile. I think thats about it. ha. There is actually a moment I think in chapter 5 of the new book, where this gets brought up by Seophan, actually XD - oh and Azael smiles. but in a creepy, im going to eat you sort of way. I dont think hes actually happy. >.> LOL

Damn Lucian and his megalomaniac tendencies. I mean first he knocks up Nire without her consent ... and then raising an innocent little child as a soon-to-be-leader. Poor Luthinos, being raised under so much pressure and expectations. And then having to watch his two younger siblings being raised normally. Lucian should at least let him wear blue clothes. Jeez ... Demon parents ...
Either way I would love to read about Lucian and Nire raising their children! I'm sure it would be ... exciting (quoting you), as long as you keep the word moderation in mind (quality's better than quantity and all that xP). And if you can't put all of your material in your books than you can always write short stories and post them here or on your webpage (NUDGE, NUDGE), many authors do that these days. Actually just keep doing what you are doing .Β
I read the first chapter of The Depth Of Shadow, AND I LAUGHED SO HARD. The (almost) never-smiling Lucian is so funny. Reading about him before he falls in love with Nire ... Epic. I love it. You wrote from his POV in The Lord Of Shadow, but this is just better somehow. So funny ... I mean even though I cursed him some sentences ago doesn't mean I don't like him. He's just an asshole sometimes.Β
Ezuriel and Seophan smiles! That's fantastic! They can start the "make-the-bloody-demons-smile movement"! XD. I think Seophan did a great job making Azael smile, even though it was in a creepy way. It is all very promising. There is hope yet. And yes I agree with you, Azael's sad. No one's evil for no good reason. Maybe he is because there are no good psychologists in the Realm of Shadows? XP.Β
And I think this is oficially the longest comment I have ever written on deviantART ... >.< (My apologies)
P.S. Soooooooooooooooooooo, when will chapter 2 be out?

funny you should mention that because I did think about writing shorts and putting them online. just stuff that didnt make it into the final books because it didnt have a place or further the plot.
and yes, Lucians experience with Nire was the only one he'd ever had with a child, and Luthinos is not a human child, he is a demon protege... Lucian expects him to be just like he is, and sort of forgets the fact that he is ALSO a child. Nire does get under his skin enough that he figures it out eventually, and stops being such a hard ass. on the bright side, Luthinos DOES want to be just like him, so their relationship, while rocky, is a good one.
I only wrote from his POV a little in tLoS, it was mainly supposed to revolve around Nire. this book is actually supposed to revolve MORE around Lucian than Nire, and I often abandon her perspective and keep the reader in line with what Lucian experiences, but I do deviate when Lucian isn't around.Β
Ezuriel is very light hearted, so hes pretty smiley. Seophan is just laid back, he makes an appearance in this book, and will reappear later as well, perhaps more than one might expect.Β
Azael is just... well he wants what he wants. I don't really consider him evil just... self involved. he is really only interested in his own well being, and that was NOT always the case. I touch on his history in this book, and I'd like do go a little deeper than I have. he is likely on one level jealous of Lucians success. I think that when the quadrants were divided Azael was still quite loyal, and more than happy to be Lord of the South- it was even the quadrant he wanted, he had first dibs of the other 3. I think he got bored, and also I think he liked having human slaves. Lucian makes a law against it saying humans are equal citizens, and it irritates him because he does not think humans are equal at all, so its kind of an insult. He is of the mind that the powerful rule the less powerful, a very naturalistic view of how the world works. Lucian seeks order, within the natural way of things, and Azael begins to disrespect him, thinking he has grown Β weak minded. To top it off, hes not a very good ruler, and is so amassed in luxury and wealth that the rest of his quadrant begins to die off, and the human population (the poor) as in all impoverished countries, sky rockets. So now humans, protected by law, are not only equal, but a nuisance, in his mind draining the south of resources. enter human trafficking and sale, and bitterness from the wealth and prosparity of the East, whos ideals he does not share, against his ideals, where he is suffering. hes too set in his ways to examine his own beliefs, and thats not surprising considering his affinity. All ancient demons have an elemental affinity, just as Elders have animalistic affinities. Azaels is fire, he is by nature stubborn, hot headed, and destructive. just as it is a cats nature to be independant, and a dogs nature to pack. Lucian's affinity is flora, thus he is always growing, changing, and adapting. All Azael is good at really, is destruction, when kept in check is an important part of life. he is not kept in check, however, and refuses to be so. That is why he flourished during the great wars, he wanted to bring down the old ways, but he was unprepared for the new ones. He respected Lucian when he commanded armies that destroyed his enemies, but when he settled and began to build, Azael became discontent.
SO NOW that you have that brief history of Azaels issues.... Β >.> you know. Β ^ probably my longest comment ever. its not even a comment anymore. its like a brief essay Azael on the downfall of Southern society. lmao.
