Silly AU story. The day John found a lost alien cub, took him home, convinced his dad to keep him, but eventually had to release him back to freedom.This had a thousand layers and every time it grew longer I feared SAI was gonna tell me to go to hell. BUT IT RESISTED. I love you, SAI.
You can read this as a shippy story or just as friendship, I don't really care. They were 8 years old.
Jade has no glasses because she looked cuter without them, so my headcanon for her is now that back then she didn't need them all the time.
Originally my entry for the HSO event, team John/Karkat, for the clichΓ© "met as kids". Since it's the 17th already and everybody else is uploading theirs, I thought it was ok.
