On October 29th, the Pope said thisCausing scandal and being a bad example turn people off, making them think, "Hey, if that is being Christian, I'll be an atheist.' That's because our witness is what makes people see what it is to be a Christian," he said. He really doesn't get it. I didn't become an atheist because I was turned off by Catholics. The scandals in the Church merely point out to me that it's a human construct and that there isn't anything particularly special or holy about it. On the contrary, it looks completely messed up. This gave me doubts about the Church, not God.
I could never choose to not believe in something. My non belief happened on its own after years of reflection.
I, like so many other people, scrambled into the light over a long arduous period of questioning and thinking. It took me years of reflection to finally realize that there was no good evidence for a God.

If you are a Christian experiencing some doubt over your faith, you are going to receive a lot of advice from your fellow Christians. You will be told about how doubt will strengthen your faith and bring you closer to your god. I'm not here to argue with that or to tell you that such a perspective is wrong. I just want to point out that there is another possibility you should at least consider. What if the doubt you are experiencing is a healthy sign that your rational mind is trying to break free from a tradition of superstition?

Yeah I’m gonna be honest this is a terrible argument.
I am very certain that vaccines don’t cause autism, but that only makes it more troubling for me when people think otherwise. I am also very certain that conversion therapy is not only ineffective, but that even if it did work it would still be unethical, and thus the knowledge that some people advocate for it is downright terrifying.
Edit: I guess you blocking me is an eternal reminder that just because someone’s an atheist, doesn’t mean they are intellectually honest. You could’ve at least explained the fault in my reasoning.

It's the ones who want to write laws to enforce doctrines exclusive to Christianity, or to punish unbelief, who have earned, and deserve, the anger of everyone who finds Christian theology hard to swallow. And the same goes for any other religion that seeks to impose a theocracy, even Wicca (not that THAT'S likely to happen).

I don't go to christians pages and try to stop their (very stupid) publications (when something is absolutly stupid, I think there is nothing wrong with it, to call it stupid btw., how should it be called else?), but they do with atheist works! They make false accusations, they lie and even threaten people here. Who's bad?

It's just that something weighs on my mind.. I notice that a lot of atheists nowadays firmly believe in what I call 'academic science' (which isn't real science), and, influenced by Dawkins, they get really arrogant towards anyone who tries to criticize established theories, which are also manmade and harmful. Summarized briefly: there's so much to discover, life is short, enjoy it. blah blah.. Nevermind, I'll take my thoughts elsewhere

Academic science : science as taught in schools/universities/etc. Anything that pretends to be 'common knowledge' today. Content sponsored by the same people who pay for religious movements. Don't take my word for it, check it out yourself.
You know, this is why I don't call myself an atheist any more. Talking to most atheists nowadays feels exactly the same as talking to religious fanatics. They both are fundamentalists. They're always angry and arrogant and they usually start throwing random quotes sooner or later..

Thank you for your comments, my dear! But I think, this person simply doesn't want to understand. They can understand it suddenly when it effects them personally.

It sin't also that atheist "believe" in sciene, you can check science out, you are allowed to question theories and it needs a proof! Has nothing to do with religion at all.
