This creature dwells on top of the outer core of the Earth. Its movements stir the magma below the crest of the planet causing the tectonic plates to shift and collide with each other causing earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. No one ever sees it because it lies deep beneath the magma.

I like it, nice and beefy haha. Seriously though, this and your other stuff is already good enough quality to be concept art for something. I'm sure the competition is intense with that line of work but if you wanted to you could EASILY get a job doing that in my opinion. GREAT job!

so, how exactly would this beast generate earthquakes?

He's a behemoth. I figger all he has to do is perch atop his mountain lair, let out a roar, and BAM.
California detaches.

oh, haha, I see...
the only reason I ask is because MichaelJaecks went through a rather elaborate explanation of how his earthquake dragon actualy generated the earthquakes.

I kind of keep quiet on elaborating what a concept creature ''does'', at least in explanation of a basic picture. A concept image is meant to be elaborated on by the writers - If you start talking about things that the image doesn't directly represent, I look on it as just unneccessary padding.
Not to say I don't like reading people's explanations of their concepts or even writing my own; I left it out for the competition because they asked for an image, not a story.

hmmm... you see, that is where I can't seem to comprehend your logic...
if you enjoy writing explinations for your concepts, and there were no specific rules telling you NOT to give an explination, why then did you decide not to write one? in my opinion, even the most simple of an explination can be used to greatly enhance a drawn concept...
then again, if you simply drew this without a clear concept in mind, I suppose there would be no explination to write...

I didn't need her to write anything to understand that this dragon could potentially make earthquakes. She drew a dragon, and it's great.

haha, I know she didn't NEED to write anything... and I find the pic quite awesome as well!
but... she did say that she liked to write explanations... so... why not?
sorry if I upset anyone in any way...
