Despite being a dedicated student Usagi is impatient and gets bored easily, often resulting in them zoning out or fidgeting in classes. If something isn't engaging enough, they treat it like a huge drag.
While they can be haughty and a bit full of themselves, they don't look down on others as less than them and deeply respect those who are more skilled.
Usagi is open and friendly, but tends to enjoy affectionately teasing the people he's with and enjoys people who aren't afraid to bite back. More than anything, they like a challenge.
It doesn't take much to get them frustrated or flustered and they can't help but express it openly, much to their own embarrassment.

[ HISTORY ]

After their human death, Usagi ended up on their own in a small rural town on the outskirts of the Soul Society.
They didn’t have anyone with them when they died, and were more or less alone for many years of their afterlife. They didn’t like staying in one place for too long, nor did they like the idea of getting something for nothing. A lot of their time was spent running errands and doing odd jobs.
This arrangement gave them a lot of opportunities to learn new skills, and to travel to different towns on the outskirts and to different districts in Rukongai. And their apparent spiritual abilities made these chores even easier to accomplish.
One of these errands brought them to an old man living in the town. He had a little storefront that he needed help tending to, and a free room that Usagi could come home to.
Usagi made it their home, and grew close to the old man, named Tenken. He told them stories about his son, who had become a Shinigami nearly 200 years prior.
The stories held so much pride for his son and respect for the Shinigami but never shied away from how dangerous the job really was, as Tenken’s son had died on the job. The combination of pride and resentment Tenken had for the job would stay with Usagi for the rest of their life.

In a way, the honesty of these stories just made Usagi more interested in the life of a Shinigami. Knowing it wasn’t just heroic glamour, knowing that these were just people, like them. Knowing they lived and died just like them… It made the Shinigami human. It made them seem less distant.
This fascination and their spiritual abilities eventually brought them to Shino, and with hard work they passed the entrance exams and enrolled in the school…

They didn’t really expect the challenge of having to choose which uniform to wear, though.
