Gilbert's gun was held tight in his right hand, eyes locked on the curly haired child. A kid? All alone out here? He holstered his weapon, slowly raising his hands above his head to show he meant no harm, "Easy there, liebling. I'm not going to hurt you."
He kept his voice low, ever so cautious as he took a slow step back to give her space. He'd been at this end of the muzzle before, one bullet wound was enough for one lifetime. "I didn't realize anyone was actually living here--"

CLementine's arms shook, as she still held up the gun. However, when he put his hands up, showing no threat, she lowered the weapon. "This is my home.... Before this happened. The walker outside is my babysitter, Sandra." She told the white haired, but young appearing, adult. She didn't know if she should trust this person, but he wasn't trying to hurt her....

The small girl continues to hold the gun up, but she is still fearful of you, unsure of who you are. "......I used to have people..." Her responce is delayed, as she had to decide whether to bluff, or be honest.

I fearfully back away from the child, thinking to myself that I was weak to be taken down by such a small girl. I saw promise in her, potential. Of course she had people before, a little kid couldn't have survived this long on her own.
"I'm sure we all have...may I ask what happened to them?" I stutter. It was a stupid question, because it was obvious what happened to them. I just wanted to build my trust with her by starting out with honesty. If she asked, I would give her my truth, too.

".... they all died . I found my parents dead, too." The little girl said, her voice shaking, and despite that she tried to sound tough, she still sounded small and harmless. Still shaking, she kept the gun risen.

My heart sank. I would think they had all died, but...she SAW her dead parents?! No way...she didn't have to act tough, I knew the pain.Β
"....I can't believe you saw them....I wish I could have at least SEEN my mother and brothers one last time...my boyfriend...my best friends...it's the same thing that happens to everyone." Great job keeping her spirits up, I scold myself. I wanted to tell her she could trust me, because there was no way I could hurt a child, especially in a world like this one. If only she would believe me, she looked headstrong. Maybe that's how she made it all the way out here.
"....um, anyway, I'm...sorry I barged into your house. It looked abandoned. You don't really think about these things anymore, y'know?"

[sorry characters a girl shoulda mentioned that XD]
The thought of that tiny girl, perching a corpse of someone she once knew, both sickened and saddened me. I wanted nothing more than to protect this girl now, but something told me I didn't need to.
"T-three months? Gotta admit, that's impressive. Especially for someone your age." I bent down to her level (I am 5'6 so about two feet taller than her, I'm fourteen) and sighed. "We should at least know each other's names, right? I'm Karen." I smiled hoping I could hear her lovely name.

Clementine kept the gun raised high, and stated that a man took care of her, and taught her how to survive, but that he had gotten bit because of her (but didn't go into detail), and that she couldn't find the rest of her group, and decided to go back home.
The child shook, and finally lowered her weapon, seeing Karen as no threat.
"....C-Clementine." She muttered softly.

Clementine....I repeated it in my head. It was an adorably beautiful name, one that perfectly fit her.Β
"I love your name...." I told her softly, smiling a sincere smile that I haven't shown in a long time. I felt like she was one of the few good things left in this new world of ours.
"...do you want this?" I state as I pull my hand out of the pocket of my sweatshirt, which used to be white and grey striped but is now bloodstained. I pull out a fresh apple I had found in an orchard not too long ago, and I thought to myself that she had to be hungry after everything she had been through. Who wouldn't be?

Although the little girl already had her brooklyn hoodie, she accepted the sweatshirt, and when she saw the apple, her eyes widened, and a grin appeared on her face. "I love apples!" She cheered, before taking it. "... but don't you want to have some of the apple?" Clementine asked. She didn't want to take all of it, when Karen had given it to her... she wanted to share it. "I think my house still has a knife, we could cut it in half or something.."

I was surprised for a minute, it's been so long since anyone had wanted to share their food with me. This girl was so very nice...I agreed to share the apple with her. How could I not?
The two of us headed for her kitchen, finding a moderately sized knife as I sliced the sweet fruit in two even slices, thus handing her one half and taking the other half for myself. I bit into the juicy citrus, remembering things like cider mills, and recalling the sweet memories behind them. I forced the memories down and smiled at Clementine. She was the sweetest thing I had seen in quite the while.

[[ do you have a reference of your character? I might want to draw fanart to this RP and I don't know what your character looks like. ]]
Clementine smiled as she bit into her slice of the fruit, remembering the last time that she had eaten an apple. It was at the motel in Macon. Near her home, and near Lee's family drug store. She missed Lee, but said nothing. The memories bothered her small mind. "Where are we going to go? Do we have to leave my home?" She asked sadly.

[no I just kinda made her up on the spot XD You could make her look like me thoughΒ hopewolf123.deviantart.com/artβ¦Β That would be absolutely adorable!!]
I kneeled down to her level, smiling that smile that couldn't leave my face. My eyes shone through my glasses.
"We don't have to leave if you don't want to," I assure her. "We can secure this place together, fight off any walkers that come near us. We can wander out for food occasionally, and we might not have to worry about bandits because people want to stay away from neighborhoods because they're afraid of walkers being there. So we'd be safe."Β
I had always wanted to be a mother, and, to be honest, Clementine felt to me like either he daughter or little sister I'd never had. I would protect her, I hoped she knew that.

"Okay, but what if we run out of food and there's no more left here?" the little girl asked. She had an experiance with this, as before leaving the motor inn, her group had scavanged everything they could from Macon, and had to start leaving as soon as possible, despite what Lilly had wanted. Clementine liked her home... she liked her treehouse, and she liked the fact that she had all of her clothes and toys still. She felt like she could once again somewhat live an... almost normal life. "you won't leave, right?" She then asked.
[you're super pretty.]

Clementine liked the idea of a vacation, but she didn't think it was possible with walkers existing. "Okay, I like that idea." She said, and then hugged her new friend. "Okay. thanks.... Pinkie promise?" She then asked, raising her pinkie to the other.

Akindlia In reply to LittleClementine [2014-09-19 19:25:04 +0000 UTC]
I raised my pinkie, linking it with hers. "...double pinkie promise."Β
Then a thought crossed my mind; What if I end up dead? I forced those thoughts down. I will not die, I told myself, I will protect Clementine with my life but I will not die and leave her alone. Ever.

The little girl smiles at you, having not even thought of the possibilities of dying... it was like she forgot about the walkers for a moment. "Okay." She said, before going back upstairs and getting her stuffed animals to show you, like any little child would. She would have brought her barbies down too, but her hands were full of stuffed animals.

"I love your stuffed animals, they're so cute!" I exclaimed when I saw them. I remembered having that many toys at her age...
"want me to play with you?" I smiled, petting a stuffed purple tiger. It's plush was still soft, it felt new.

"Sure!" Clementine smiled, holding up a pink bunny. This bunny just so happened to be out of fluff, and looked very old. "His name is Floopy..." The little girl smiled, before sitting down, with all of the stuffed animals.

Akindlia In reply to LittleClementine [2014-09-22 22:24:58 +0000 UTC]
I repeated the name in my head. It was the type of name a three year old would call their toy because of the shape it was in, that's because it was. I picked up Floopy, inspecting him as his limp body flattened in my now rough hands.
"he's cute..." I replied. It was nice to forget about the walkers for a little while, but their growls from outside reminded me that the house was still not secured. Panicked, I ran from my spot on the kitchen floor to Clementine's front door, locking it and searching for things to block the doors. It didn't sound like they were close to the door, but I really didn't want to open the door and check.
"stay there, ok?" I softly ordered Clem, as to keep her safe, forgetting all about the fact that she was capable of handling herself. But that child's safety was more important to me than anything else at the moment.

{ fun fact: Floopy is actually a stuffed animal that I own, which is why I added him in as CLem's toy, too. I've had him since I was born, and he really is a floopy, flat, loved stuffed animal ^^ }
Clementine looked up in concern, as you run off. "Alright," She says quietly, staying in the kitchen. She waited for you to come back, and watched as she barricaded the door with all kinds of furnature pieces. "Don't forget the windows! Walkers can get through those, too.." the little girl called out.

( awwww!!!)
Afterbarricadding the doors, windows, and any other enterences, I returned to my spot next to Clementine.
"there," I breathed a sigh of relief. "I was just afraid, so I made a temporary barricade. I know we have to build it better soon, and clean up the place so we have a nicer place to live." I said, winking at her.

The child smiled at the wink, and giggled a little, like any child would have done months ago.
"Yeah.... I think so too." Clementine said, looking at the blood splatter that Lee had tripped on almost four months ago. She picked up her toys, and took them back upstairs, so the two of them could clean the house.

I flinched at the sight of that blood...it was dry. Handprints and traces of smearing remained crusted on the kitchen floor, and I hoped they weren't Clementine's. I deduced that they were too large to be hers.
With a whip of my short blonde hair, I bent down to inspect the blood.
"It looks like someone slipped here..." I said to myself.
