let me tell you my head canon.

prince lir is doomed to a fate similar to that of haggard's. he will for a time find things to distract him from his losses. mayhap he embraces things and responsibilities king haggard forwent for solitude. then maybe he goes the other way. neither fills the void.

when he, too, becomes old and gray he seeks the memory of his happiness one final time. he goes long and far to find her, and he never does.

mayhap he becomes bitter and resentful in a darker vein that molly did, that if she still exists, she has made no effort to acknowledge his search, his pining, or desperation.

so he returns to the sea

to live a life of solitude

to hear promises and whispers of a red ghost from beneath the sea.

madness takes hold.

and time loops.
