There is so damned much I could say about this piece, but I really wanted it to mostly speak for itself so I'll try and restrain myself to just a little bit of my usual long-winded commentary:

I loved the Dark Signer arc of 5Ds so much, but I hated that it left so many good characters looking like howling nut jobs. *cough*Kalin*cough* I really wanted to do something that took a look at a more humanised side of them. One that we never really saw until they were dying for a second time...

So yeah, Alex becomes a Dark Signer after she bled to death in a big traffic accident after the Fortune Cup (can't see it in the pic but theres a scar on her leg from the crash). Wont delve too much into the how's and why's since I'll be posting all that later, but I headcanon that since each of the Dark Signers technically died (screw you 4Kids and your purple netherworld fog of censorship!) before they became bound to their respective Earthbound Immortals, none of them have heartbeats anymore.

I imagine that despite them all having a unfinished goals that they accepted the Earthbound Immortal's marks for, when they're not evil-scheming, shadow duelling, or just generally howling at the moon crazy; they feel the weight of their incomplete 'deaths' and are haunted by the fact that all they can 'live' for now is unending emptiness.
