Very nice. The details are lovely.
About your scanner though, do you have it set to black and white? When my scanner is at that setting, it doesn't catch pencil sketches either, but at grayscale it does. Just a thought.

It picks up the pencil tones it just comes out looking a little.. pixelated? But thank you for that suggestion! I think I just need a better scanner. 8]

No problem! My scanners not all that great either, so we're in the same boat. Pencil for me comes out grainy and uneven.
