Description
Trooper Marcus of the AMA rose unsteadily to his feet. His head swam, and his ears rang. He shook his head to try and clear it, and looked around the trench. The recent mortar attack had caused massive disorientation amongst the AMA soldiers. Marcus took a step forward, and ended up stumbling backwards before kneeling back down. He needed time to gather his wits.

The AMA had been laying siege to Scourge's castle now for the last three weeks. Their trenches surrounded the massive fortification. Things hadn't been all the AMA's way though. Scourge's Suppression Squad Army had managed to grind the battle into a standstill, and war of attrition. The big guns and mortars mounted atop the battlements were placed to cover all possible approaches, and the somewhat disciplined fire from Scourge's army meant that casualties would be high if the AMA were not careful.

Marcus looked up as he heard a faint cry. Slowly it rose in pitch, and Marcus cursed. The Suppression Squad Army must be trying to sally forth from the castle to try and take advantage of the recent bombardments on the AMA trenches. He didn't know how well other parts of the trench system were prepared, but Marcus knew that the area he was in would be devastated. The mortar attack had left many of his fellow troopers injured and disorientated, or worse... Dead. The cry grew louder and louder, and suddenly Marcus saw a wave of soldiers leap into the trench. They were dressed in dark green uniforms, and the bandanas they wore over their faces bore an image of Scourge's manic grin. The AMA troops tried to rally, but the momentum of the attack overwhelmed them. Marcus was on his feet, and firing wildly. Something at the edge of his vision caught his attention, and he turned. A yellow Suppression Squad Army fox jumped at him from on top of a stack of crates, knife in hand. Marcus raises his gun and fired. The fox spun in the air as the shot punched through his chest, and hit the ground. Marcus hesitated, waiting to see if the fox was going to move, and it almost cost him his life as another enemy soldier got the drop on him. Suddenly the ground shook with a series of thuds, and Marcus thought that another mortar barrage was on it's way. It wasn't until the enemy soldier dropped his gun in fear and ran that Marcus realized something else was happening. The sky went dark as a giant shadow washed over him, and he heard cheering. Marcus looked up and saw an amazing sight. Gicandice, the figurehead of the AMA was on the battlefield. She stepped overhead, moving towards the castle, and Marcus let out a cry of joy. Her very presence was shifting the tide of the battle, sending the enemy into a full blown retreat. Spirits rejuvenated by the sight of Gicandice, the AMA forces surged forward in her wake. This was the turning point. Macurs knew it. After all, there was no way they could lose now...
