This reminds me of the intact Big Core derelicts in the Big Core graveyard in Gradius Gaiden, except that this appears to be on the planet of Gradius (where T-301 fought the Big Core Mk. IV high above the planet).

The size of the Big Core is jaw-dropping, especially since you can bet that Vic (and the pilot) are especially tiny compared to it.
It makes the Core's defeat all that much more amazing. So... what loop was this guy on, anyways? XD

That's not what I had in mind - I wanted the pilot to have a moment of reflection, of silence... I initially wanted to draw something a lot more dynamic and this image came to my mind instead
