Yeah, oil pastels can be tough to work with. In my opinion some of the colors don't blend as well as some of the others. The greens particularly.
I wonder, was this rendered on a black background? The darkest parts of this picture recede from the eye, even the main branch and the two leaves below it to some extent.
Overall, I like this art you've made. You've managed to use the oil pastels to good effect.
