On the picture, nah, I wouldn't call this yaoi...Deviantart's ToS wouldn't allow me upload yaoi since it's too explicit. But the subject matter is (male on male) is the same as yaoi. I think you're probably right as far as why we girls like things like this. You know, what straight girl wants to see another pair of boobs when you can see twice as much guy?

Japanese role playing game.
I have this (not so) secret shame: my favorite RPG series is Xenosaga, which is...well, you either hate it or love it, and the fans tend to be rabid and completely psychotic to the point that they harrass the creators with the thought that they are being good little fans (so I kinda disassociate with the fandom because it's just...embarassing and heartbreaking to watch), and well.... It's not really that well-written overall. But you know how kids are: you mention God and Jesus in something, and suddenly it's so deep
Anyway, Xenosaga's literally the Star Wars of the RPG world: over-budgetted space sci-fi that tries way too hard to be meaningful and philosophical but at the end of the day is still just good old fashioned B-movie cheese
