That's pretty slick. I like the way you handled the face especially, and the linework is real sharp. Those little black smudgies help even out that border, but it might look better if you added a couple more just to even things out.
Was this mostly Photoshop? I remember trying something like this in Painter, and yeah, that interface just bugs the heck outta me.
