Is....is that what the spitters really look like?

Sadly, I'm from Texas, and I've met people who are actually a lot like her. -_-

Nah, I kind of failed her.. but something like that.

That's.. really scary! Here we all wear folk dresses and dance around a pole.. kind of like in this commercial: [link]

Lucky! XD I'd rather do that then be here in redneckville. Lots of guns.

Though I can't really talk, I have a rifle too...

Gee, that's scary. My dad owned a gun once.. but he sold it as soon as my brother got to the age where guns are the coolest things ever.

Well most people out here have guns to protect their livestock from the mountain lions, coyotes, and various other critters we have running around, as well as hunting, and I'll admit I honestly don't have any problems with someone who actually knows how to responsibly use a gun having one. I have one myself.

We'd probably also have more guns if we had mountain lions and coyotes. Guess it's just a bit unnerving if your not used to it. You're totally right though.

As long as the owner is not using it to harm anyone and actually KNOWS how to use it safely, I don't have a problem with guns. It's only when whoever has them doesn't know how to use them properly or safely, or uses them on people or animals like cats and dogs who did nothing wrong, that I take issue with it.

True that. In Sweden we have different laws when it comes to guns.. but I guess it's different in different states in America too. As long as you have a license and use it for protection it sounds good to me.

Different states here in America have different laws about EVERYTHING. Texas is by far the most lenient when it comes to any kind of weapons. I mean, I had a rifle when I was barely a teenager! My dad gave it to me for my birthday. XD I've never hunted, but I have killed animals before (chickens mostly, we had too many and mom was too squeamish to do it herself, so I did the killing and gutting for her-as a little kid. I was hardcore, man. XD) and I understand perfectly why people do it. As long as it's quick and painless and done for a good reason, like either protecting livestock or for the meat or whatever and not just for the fur, then I'm fine with that too. But yeah, using guns for protection is what they were invented for!

Started young. XD No, but yeah, you're absolutely right. And if you shot an animal to eat the I think you should use the fur.. why let it go to waste? As long as the animals don't have to suffer.

Oh, of course! I'm one of those "use every part of the animal" types-I've even gotten into carving bone, though most of the time the smaller ones end up given to the dogs because they're pretty much useless for carving. Too fragile.

That's cool. If I ever become interested in hunting I shall keep that in mind. What kind of things do you carve?

Well I'm pretty new to carving, but right now I'm working on an eagle-headed walking cane for a war veteran, and I've made a bit of a start on a pair of cedar Doberman bookends. I'd like to do some totem poles and stuff like that eventually too-but I really need better carving knives, or a good sharpener.
