I would flip this horizontaly, like you would see it in a mirror. Our eyes want's to read pictures from the bottom left to the top right. This picture flows the "wrong" way!

I like it this way. Things shouldn't always be the way we're used to, then photography would be awfully boring. Sometimes you have to do unconventional and controversial stuff.

how did you get the background black? did you use a black background or did you edit it? just curious..

It actually was a white background, but I had a spotlight on the flower and that exposed the flower but left the background without color, so it came out black. The whole "concentration" of the camera was on the flower & drop.

Perhaps you need more light? Or to be really, really close to the object, else the focus is on the whole picture, including the background. Try different things and eventually you'll nail it.
