-Edit- Coloured the Merfolk by using this fish [link] as a reference. I was going to leave them plain with blue-green and light green skin tones but they looked too plain. I love this a lot more.

Merfolk are timid, skittish, curious, and not to mention, musical, creatures. They make great warriors, dispite the fact that they're fragile and can live up to 300 years. (Sticking with Hans C. Anderson's life span for mermaids) They are skinny/slim creatures with long and thin faces as well. They are light skinned with dark hair and have either light blue or gray eyes. Males keep their hair pulled back and in a braid to keep it out of the way while hunting or during battles and some decorate their hair while females keep their hair down or in pony tails as signs of beauty and decorate their hair with shells and/or starfish. Merfolk (kind of) name their children after their parents according to their gender, using the first to letters of their name. Children are refered as fry or guppies.

This is a typical merfamily; usually, there are two children and two parents. Some have more than two children but there's very few families with one or none. From left to right (I probably won't be using these characters, as I've only created them for examples) we have Arista, Arobeth, Krillen or Krill, and Krulan.
