I'll take off my armor, take off my helmet, throw down my sword... And I'll sleep here for a while. Here, in this lake, where it's so peaceful. Just for a little... just for a little while."

A small Lancelot appreciation post. Just what is it about Fate dads that makes me love them so much? Is it how hopelessly mundane and human their mistakes are, or the fact that their fates are proportionately tragic? (looking at you, Kiritsugu) This scene came to me on a whim, but its composition was inspired by Millais' Ophelia. While it's mentioned here and there, I think we don't really address the fact that this man was raised by a water fairy at the bottom of a lake. It makes sense that he feels at home in it, but how far does his affinity for it reach? Can he breathe underwater? Does it help him recover from injuries and ailments faster? Scuba diver summer Lancelot whe-THAT'S ENOUGH VERA. In any case, I'm glad this came out the way it did. It was extremely relaxing as well as somewhat cathartic painting Papalot sleeping peacefully like he deserves. As someone close to me pointed out, I'm slowly easing myself into drawing more complicated backgrounds, a skill I might want to develop if I am to ever draw that darned comic after all.
