hi! thank you for viewing my work!
this is my first deviantart submission in my whole life!! wow!!!!!!! that feels pretty monumental for me, someone who has been inspired by amazing da artists since i was 14 years old, but has never plucked up the courage to post anything myself....
over the course of the last year i've really had some huge revelations about who i am as a person and how important it is to me that i seriously pursue and improve upon my art. i've been making some really big improvements and i am so excited to keep learning and striving to push myself!!
on that note, this is a linocut print that i made! i am really really really happy about this piece because i feel i am coming closer to being able to communicate some of the things i would like to communicate in my art. during the carving process the figure has become a bit lumpy (thigh area troubles), and the line distinction differentiating sea and sky was lost. i am still so so so stoked about it!!! i LOVED carving this. i always thought lino would be really tough to carve and you'd not be able to get fine lines at all, but that was so not the case!!! i got very inspired after seeing intricate work some artists were doing in the 1920s and 1930s.
look at this by napier waller!! so sensitive and loose and organic. the subject matter very much speaks to me as well.
one of the things that has always worried me about sharing my art is - what to say about it? but it turns out a good way of breaking through that is just exciting yourself and writing whatever comes to mind.
