I think he'd enjoy the story of frankenweiner. Doesn't mention walkies, but it does have a bond between boy and dog that transcends even death. Bertram still loves his mistress even after all this mess. I wonder if he thinks of her as a sister or more as a mother?

Would Frankenstein be Frankensteed in equestria? XD
Other than that, he is super cute and yet cool and I love your art style! I never thought of a zombie pony before!

Try Dean Koontz's 'Frankenstein' series. It's sort of a series of sequels to the original book, and it DEFINITELY shows how much of an asshole Victor is.

Oh, dear lord, I could see this couple going to visit a deceased relative and stumbling across Bertram having a big ol' fit over this author or that depiction of the undead, and they'll be all like '... bad mushrooms.' Do a complete 180, and just keep walking.
I also suspect that Midnights parents freak out a bit when they find out that their daughters BFF/corpse buddy is now sentient. Especially if he asks them to give him walkies.
So cute!

I think that was Mary Shelly’s underlying message in the book. The monster is merely a lone being brought by a savage creator who did the work of a god, yet showed none of the compassion or love of one.
Dr. F seriously has a god complex.

I always wondered what would happen if Cutthroat found out about Midnight's abilities to a reanimate the dead. Would he have her bring back Butch? Or would she be the only mare to stand her ground against the angry stallion? Or even her mothers threaten him to leave their baby alone and stop fallowing her around?

Huh, then maybe one day Bertram could write his own work of fiction, presenting an unique view in the depiction of the undead: the view of an undead itself.

Perhaps, but the monster was only really disgusting during the creation process. Dr. Frankenstein used only the most premium quality parts for his creation and continuously swapped them out as they degraded in order to have max freshness once the body was ready to be brought to life. I don't know about skin only partially covering the muscles, but the end result was that the creation was described as being intimidatingly tall and remarkably handsome, but had creepy discolored eyes.
Then again, it has been awhile since I've read the book, so you might be referring to something I'd forgotten.

Ah one of the great things about the classics is that they are unrecognizable from the modern day interpretations (Dracula esspecially) may I recommend (for the pony) to try a book called METRO 2033 (the name is always spelt using all caps) it's dark, litterly, and often times very grim with death in front, behind and on both sides of you every time you enter the tunnels, no one is a hero, they're all villains, from a backstabbing bandit to a master manipulator. It's a good read, be advised, your pony may want his mistresses company once he's done as the books (METRO is a series but 2033 is the beginning and often considered the best one) always make you feel hollow and empty

Oooh! Imagine him becoming so offended by the lack of proper undead representation that he starts writing a book with the express purpose of doing it properly! It gets published (either by Midnight's possible return and her prompting him/doing it for him (after getting over the initial shock of everything) or by the pure spite and will to educate ponies) and ponies eat it up as the beginning of a zombie genre better than any other
