"-I am obligated to inform you that you will likely not survive the process. Homeworld thanks you in advance for your sacrifice." The medical saw suddenly came to life, filling the room with a dull whine. Larimar's pale reflection gazed back at her in the spinning black blades.
"We are forever in your debt."

as to what the fig newton is going on in this, the context is either:
1.) An alternate storyverse where Onyx never crash lands on Earth and remains Zircon's apprentice, eventually taking part in the cruel gem experimentation research herself. Larimar, Citrine, and Emerald were captured on Earth by Zircon's forces, Larimar was handed to Onyx to deal with
2.) Occurring in the current storyverse, if Zircon came to Earth and apprehended Onyx. Larimar, Emerald, and Citrine were captured, while Onyx is currently under Zircon's control.

The second one is darker and could add quite a bit of character development to all three of them, depending on what happens... I like it.

Β Β Larimar struggled against the cold restraints around her wrists, shock in her eyes. "Onyx, no! Onyx, it's me! Larimar!" Onyx did nothing but stare as the blue gem struggled and slowly brought the buzzing, shining black saw close to her, making her whimper in fear. Larimar took a deep breath and looked up at her team member, who stared back with cold eyes. Larimars fear was slowly dying down as she looked at the purple gem. "Onyx, please, I know you're still in there and I'm not giving up hope!" Larimar bravely said, moving side to side quickly. "Please hold still for the experimentation," the purple gem said, as she traced a pattern over Larimar, planning out where she would cut.
Β Β The blue gem watched her movements and kept moving around, making the gem place them saw down to her side slightly. "Please hold still for the experimentation," Onyx repeated. As she began to lift her buzzing saw, Larimar kicked her arm, making her stumble forward and fall on top of her test subject. larimar used her legs to move onyx to the side slightly, the saw cutting her cheek slightly as it pushed harshly against her restraint. "Red alert! Test Subject Larimar, room 39'7/1L! Red Alert! Test Subject Larimar, room 39'7/1L!" Onyx repeated. After a few minutes, the saw cut through the restraint, slightly cutting Larimars arm, but freeing it.
Β Β Grabbing Onyx's arm, she force the saw onto her other restraint, Onyx still saying the red alert warning. Soon, the other restraint was cut through and Larimar grabbed Onyxs other wrist, lifting the saw above the gems head. "Onyx, I'm going to save you! I promise!" Before Onyx could do anything, the blue gem kissed her deeply, making the saw stop. Onyx stared at the blue gem as she pulled away slowly. Onyx took a step back and began stuttering out, "Error. Error..." Larimar looked at Onyx as she began to walk away towards the door. "I'll come back for you... I promise..." she said as she ran out of the room, leaving Onyx in the dark alone and her single word echoing off the walls.

Omg i enjoyed reading that, I'm an "Author" myself XD or at least it's my dream to become one, for now i'm only writing stories and putting them up online for people to enjoy, just like i enjoyed your master piece of a short one-shot. Thank you for writing it.

I just realized that my new gemsona is so much like Onyx it's not even funny. I really need to change her up a little bit.
-She is a cyborg
-she has a 'drone mode' (though it's not called that)
-She has eyes similar to Onyx's (but they are black with a white cat-like pupil)
-And she even is an experiment
But the difference is that she hates herself. She's killed thousands of gems, both from the rebellion and from homeworld, and stuff like that. Ugh.
I really need to make something original.

Definitely the second one, it is so much more... interesting. AND you can have Citrine and Emerald not really being dead since while Onyx is in drone mode she basically would believe anything a superior like Zircon would tell her. But what would be the experiment? Would be testing new weaponry or enhancements to gems? Love your art by the way...

Um...something that I came up that ties into an AU I'm planning that saves Lapis and Jasper from Malachite (I'm not sure entirely what I'm doing instead since due to her different backstory [being a Slave Race member who belonged to a minor noble in the Blue Diamond faction who was "defective" enough to see all Gems as worthy of respect and fled to Earth rather than give Lapis and her other two servants over as canon fodder], Lapis wouldn't fuse with Jasper; thinking of just sticking Jasper in her gem form until Peridot can talk sense into her) comes to mind. One of Lapis' owner's other servants is named Tiger's Eye who was the only surviving Gem from an experiment that was intended to make Gem warriors with the abilities of various animals; unfortunately it failed as the results were much too animal-like and they required food (non-sentient rocks are acceptable but real Earth food worked best).
Granted, whatever it is, it's going to be painful while it's happening and after they get out of this...if they do.

Both those storylines sound cool and interesting I kind of want to see them both play out. I love the shading and dark look to the characters really makes this piece a lot creepier than ever. Great work on this

The second one would make a little more sense if Larimar was calling out Onyx's name in this. Also, Id kinda like to see the result of the experiment if she did survive o: I mean, if onyx never landed on earth, they wouldn't have met. So Larimar wouldnt have known Onyx's name, right? Still, I love this piece <3 <3 <3

yes she could survive this and get the same computer ajustments onyx has and the other members of the gang were not killed but were turned into zircons mindless drone mode slaves. and Larimar had specific ajustments so she knew what was happening wile she was in drone mode so Zircon made her watch as her friends were tourtured and experimented on. she then could be made a sex slave to zircon or onyx

I like to think the second contextual scenario is more accurate, considering we know Onyx has a "drone mode" which allows for Zircon's remote access. I also like the implications of that - Onyx being forced into a backseat and made to watch her slowly kill her best friend/lover/idk what their canon relationship is without being able to do anything. The very idea gives me chills...
