Luainil Baenre is the half-blood daughter of the Matriarch of Menzoberranzan. When it was discovered that her father was a human slave, the Matriarch killed her father, and then turned to her. It was at this time that she had run away from the Upperdark, through the exit by Mithril Hall. She took a human name, Calista after a week on the surface, to represent her abandonment of her twisted heritage. She came to love nature and all the beauty in it. The goddess Eilistraee, showed her a way to reach out to the other drow and integrate them with the surface races. She's only just begun her arduous task, and she must start by earning the trust of the surface herself.
