I loved those years too.  One of the most fascinating stories was when The Penguin served a short stint with them.  I would have liked to have seen more Batvillains share missions with them. 

I don't buy comics anymore, but I try to keep up with them online.  I know the SS has been through quite a few incarnations, maybe the New52 version is the Harley Quinn/Bane group?  I'll have to look it up too.

The movie announcement is pretty cool.  I love the Enchantress, but think she's an odd choice for the movie.  I also was bummed to find out Will Smith will be Deadshot instead of Bronze Tiger.

Yeah, was hoping the Will Smith/Deadshot thing was just a cruel internet rumor that snopes would eventually debunk.
I'm bummed he's in it at all!
Any excuse to attach a ''name" to a project, I guess.

I suppose a fat Amanda Waller is probably out of the question too.

Agreed.  I know actors and movies (well most things for that matter) are highly subjective. 

I was a fan of his music.  I saw the Fresh Prince show, but didn't always watch it.  Men in Black did it for me, I loved him.  He really seems to have joined the ranks of those arrogant, obnoxious actors like Tom Cruise.  Maybe it's just my insecurities, but I digress.

The idea of race or gender changes in comic (or other) movies is a sensitive one, but one I enjoy.  Even though one never wants to drag the discussion into an area of bigotry, the conversation can go there if it's not purposefully avoided. 

Having said that, I can't stand it when comic movies change character sex and race. 

It's a specifically visual medium and I feel a character's race and gender and station in life are part of what makes that character unique. 

I don't want a Japanese Luke Cage.  I don't want an Indian Lex Luthor.  I don't want a Russian Doctor Octopus. 

Nick Fury is a different case.  The comics retconned Nick Fury's history in a way that there is a decent reason for Nick to have switched races and lost hair.  (which is good, because who doesn't love Sam Jackson?)

I think more acceptable changes (in my overgrown nerd opinion) are found in secondary characters.
Perry White is now African American
Jimmy Olsen is Jenny Olsen
Spawn's best friend Terry is now white.
Thing/Torch's girfriend, Alicia Masters is black.

Those changes get a pass, simply because they aren't the flagship characters. 

Michael Clarke Duncan as a muscle bound, black Kingpin, while cool as hell, wasn't acceptable.  Dr. Doom as a bad acting white American dude wasn't acceptable.  Mr. Freeze being Austrian wasn't acceptable. 

I am drinking on a Saturday afternoon with waaaaaytoo much free time, so please forgive this entirely too long and possibly undecipherable reply.

In conclusion (mwahahaha), I don't think Will Smith should have been cast as Deadshot, as I am familiar with his alter ego, Floyd Lawton, but it's not the race swap that bugs me. It's that I am afraid that since he is a huge star, they are going to completely forget one of the coolest masks in DC comics so people can see Smith's mug.
