Inspired by the Martians as described by H.G. Wells in his War of the Worlds novel? Well, these guys dont have any huge, fleshy beak, but other than that, they look very much like Wellsian Martians.

I originally created one of these guys as a sidekick to a Kids show host named Loopy Larry. Just a surreal little one shot. I kept the design for a race.

Wells's Martians are some kind of brainy blobs with tentacles, two large eyes and a beaklike mouth. They don't have any complex digestive organs at all, and instead derive nutririon by injecting themselves with the blood of their victims, who are drained by automated machines... All this from a book written in 1898!
