I've been reading the Morning Star series for Sith Obi-Wan and dear god. If I could choose between encountering him or Palpatine I'd choose Palpatine... Sith Obi-Wan is a terrifying mental manipulator, he doesn't just mentally enslave you... he makes you WANT to be mentally enslaved.

Had the prequels been made first and the OT made after, Vader might have demanded to know why Obi-Wan resisted the dark side after everything was taken from the former Jedi Master and Clone General during their final confrontation. Given that Anakin turned to the dark side in a moment of weakness, rather than serious forethought, it would make sense that he would hate his former master because he envied him for having the fortitude to hold on to his morals while Anakin could not.

Perhaps, if it would have gone like that and Obi turned to the dark side, it probably would have been a lot easier for Sidious and Dooku to turn Anakin to the dark side. But I wonder, how a dark Obi-Wan would have been - original Obi was more cautious... would he be reckless?

Taking it all into review in hindsight, it is kind of amazing how solid Obi-Wan stayed on the path of the Light, going through so much strife, seeing so many friends and loved ones die, to never let himself give into his emotions, it's quite inspiring.
And then we have this piece of art here, which elicits the above-standing thought, it really puts everything into perspective, and it's quite well done too

I myself don't see the appeal of Dark!Obi because his resistance to the dark is a core feature of the character in my mind. I appreciate his "rightness" and his flaws as a Jedi and a person and I don't believe that he'd ever turn.Β

It's like how I can't sand Dark Luke because it goes so against his personality, pure heart and that he's so much like his mother. For some reason, Dark Leia fascinates me though, probably because unlike her brother, she has potential for darkness because of her personality and that she's so much like her father.
