Description My take on THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN's classic villain, the sinister MYSTERIO! I never liked the checks on the bodysuit, so I decided to update his look a bit. I prefer the wispy lines to the checks, personally. Seems a little more mystical and a little less...uhm, flannel. LOL

Oh, he's an underused villain with endless potential. In an AU story called Old Man Logan, he fooled Wolverine into killing ALL of the X-Men by filling his mind with illusions, essentially breaking Marvel's number one badass. Scary, huh?

Yeah, I know. Β And he also traveled to the 'Ultimate' universe and became a quite serious threat there.

Guess Mysterio only seems to be 'harmless' because he's usually attacking a guy with senses that allow him to see past his illusions, plus Mysterio generally enjoys messing with Spidey rather than trying to kill him. When using his abilities in lethal ways, well, you said it

It's nice to see the smaller villains move up in the world as the hero evolves. But sometimes it's scary too. Did you see what an AU Sandman did to his Spider-Man? Horrifying! I had nightmares for weeks!

Horrible, huh? Oh, and his Gwen was eaten by the zombies before he died. On the other hand, Sandman proved to be very important in stopping the Marvel Zombies once and for all. And if it's any consolation, that wasn't our Spider-Man. But it still scarred me when I saw it for the first time. I mean, can you imagine the look on my face when I saw my most beloved superhero and childhood icon suffer a fate as gruesome as this?

I think Mysterio could get to be really Menacing if used right. I can think about the times he tried to break Spidermans physic could be one really great episode. Or make him the leader of the Sinister Six.
I actually think he should be the only human who can trick Spidermans spider-sense by giving him false alarm with all the illusions. So yeah really nice work on this art my friend.

He was used right in the Old Man Logan story. He killed the X-Men by filling Wolverine 's mind with illusions, thus having him kill the X-Men.

I'd like to see him used a little more often. I think that many writers find him to be a little too campy looking or something. Dunno. I think he looks UNIQUE, and unique is always a good thing. Too many characters look and behave the same in comics, so I always appreciate something a little different.

Yeah--those checks just don't seem to cut it these days. I think the outfit prob worked better back in the 60s, but now the checks seem awkward.

Thanks Andrew! I enjoyed doing something different with the cape in the drawing. Usually capes are always floating off to one side, but this seemed to work well with Mysterio. You never know if he just might pull a disappearing act by throwing his cape in front or something.
