August 2010I seem to be a bit reluctant to leave outer space. I wanted to have a go at painting a whole galaxy as well before moving on. It turned out a lot more colourful than first intended but thatβs ok, it looks fine anyway.
A nice little challenge.Acrylics on cotton canvas. 46x38 cm / 19x16 in. About a weekβs worth of effort in total I think.

The thing I notice the most in your galaxy, that most of the other galaxy paintings here lack, is the juxtaposition between that deep red and soft blue.

You'd think the red and blue would clash horribly but for some reason it works anyway. It wasn't really intended to look the way it does but the outcome is still satisfying.

I think it does clash, in a way, but that adds dimension. Galaxies without any significant contrast look flat. I for one am glad your artwork evolved since it left your mind.
