"It's so not fair." Zacky whined from under the covers of his bed to no one. He wanted to go out with his friends to the opening of a new bar in the area. But the day before he just HAD to come down with an ugly flu bug. It was also gonna be the day that he confessed his feelings to his best friend Brian. It was gonna be the best day of his life. "I know someone up there is totally laughing at me right now.." Zacky muttered looking to the heavens. His mouth suddenly went dry; he had to get a glass of water.

Blowing slick midnight locks out of his face he mentally prepared himself for the seemingly long journey from his bedroom to the kitchen. His muscles were crying out in weakness; they just couldn't support him. So as it was, a journey that would usually take Zacky 30 seconds, took him 10 minutes. Grabbing on to the counter he got his water and chugged it down in one gulp. Refilling the glass, Zacky was about to start the rather tedious journey of going back to bed when the doorbell rang.

When he opened the door some one tackled him in a big bear hug, causing the glass to fall from his hand. The shatter was sharp and loud but Zacky couldn't be bothered with the water pooling along the bottom of his foot, when he was met with infinite, gorgeous brown eyes. "Brian what are you doing here?" Zacky whispered totally wishing he wasn't in just his boxers at this moment. Brian Haner Junior smirked at his best friend. "What I can't have a heart?" he asked.

"Well yea but-" Zacky started to say but Brian was already in the kitchen getting a broom and a dustpan. Zacky tottered his way to his partner in crime. "Bri you don't have to do that." he said reaching for the broom, but Brian snatched it back. "I know Zack but I want to. You shouldn't even be out of bed right now. You're so sick." He said sweeping up the glass and wiping the water from the hardwood. Zacky started to pull himself back up to his room when, all of the sudden he felt strong arms scoop him up.

"What the-" he muttered and looked up at Brian's face. Immediately Zacky felt his face go tomato red at the prospect of being this close to the love of his life. "Just go with it Zacky," he thought to himself, "This may not be how you planned it, but it couldn't hurt that much." So he closed his beautiful emerald eyes and snuggled up too Brian's warm chest. He heard Brian chuckle a bit as they entered Zacky's room. Setting him down gently, Brian gently kissed his forehead.

"Sleep for me Zee? Please?" He whispered with a warm smile. Zacky smiled and nodded. "As long as you stay with me. I need a cuddle." Brian laughed and started getting undressed. "Sure thing hon." he said crawling under the covers. Zacky latched himself on to Brian and almost instantly fell asleep to the sound of Brian's heart-beat beating in time with his own.

The next morning, the sun was shining through the slats of the shades. Birds were chirping their melodious harmonies and the sky was without a cloud. Zacky cracked open an eye to find no one next to him. He shot up in a frantic hurry. Was last night a dream? Was Brian kissing his forehead a figment of his feverish mind?
"SON OF A BICH!" Came a loud shrill scream from the kitchen. Zacky shot out of bed and ran as fast as he could to find Brian doubled over gripping his hand with a painful expression on his face.

"Bri? What happened?" he asked walking up to his friend. Brian met Zacky's concerned emeralds. " I was making breakfast for you and I ended up grabbing the pan of eggs and I burnt myself." he said holding up his blistered hand. Zacky winced and went to get bandaids and some antiseptic, while Brian finished cooking. Zacky took Brian's hand and applied the antiseptic and put 3 bandaids on. "There. All better." Then before he knew what was happening Zacky brought the hand up to his lips and kissed it.

"You helped me so I help you..." was Zacky only response to Brian's wide-eyed stare. The silence was palpable and Zacky turned around to run when Brian's hand grabbed his wrist. "How long Zack?" Zacky didn't turn to face his questioner. "How long what?" he could only whisper. "How long have you had feelings for me?" Brian asked his hand still encircled Zacky's tattooed wrist. Zacky gulped. "Since I met you. I love you so much." Was the short but precise answer from the rhythm.

Zacky glanced in the mirror hanging on the wall and saw Brian's face. His brown eyes were sparkling and a small smile was gracing his gorgeous features. "Zee look at me." It was a command that Zacky had to obey. He looked so meek and innocent that Brian had to smile as he connected their lips. A whimper came from the younger guitarist as he tried to savor the taste of Brian. "I love you too." Brian whispered as they reluctantly pulled away.

Zacky giggled and pulled Brian into a bone crushing hug. He looked so vibrant as though the mutual agreement of love eliminated his flu bug. "Wow you look so much better!" Brian exclaimed. "I feel better too." Zacky agreed as he cuddled against Brian. "So how was the bar last night?" he asked. "What bar? Oh that bar! Yea I didn't go." Brian remarked. "Why not?" Zacky asked with a wide-eyed gaze of wonderment. "I knew you were sick so I came over to take care of you."

"Oh my..I..." Zacky was unusually at a lost for words. "I love you." Was all he could say as Brian captured his snake-bitten lips with his own. He opened an eye and looked up to the heavens.
