Description This foal was born in July 2011, she was pretty shy, but the adults came over for some treats.
Somali wild ass are critically endangered and there are only about 700 left in the wild. In the wild they face many struggles including domesticated donkeys breeding with wild populations, tainting the species, competition for food and wild and poaching.
I think the hope is that the captive populations may be released into the wild like many other species.

Good shot Donkeys are nice animals a little harder to get to know than horses but worth it when you get it. Plus very informative text I din't know that, so sad that they are endangered Realize then into the wild, you mean like they are going to do with the Prewalzki horses?

It's really sad that this species, and countless others, is in such trouble. They are really just beautiful animals! Beautiful shot! The lighting is lovely!
