The fact that she was hardly used in season 2 shows that the writers have no use for her anymore. The same goes for Ferguson and Alfonzo (I actually forgot the latter's name when typing this). They joked about in the opossum statue episode, when Star says that they're "always in the background".
It's like how in Peanuts, the original characters Patty, Shermy, and Violet, were eventually discarded. Schulz said, "If a character works, and if the personality that you give the character provides you with ideas, then the character will stay. If the character just doesn't work, then outΒ he or she goes." Let's face it: theΒ rich snobby bratty girl who always needs to be center of attention has been done multiple times. You can't get many ideas out of that, as with Janna, who's harder to describe in words than it seems.
