A little clarification:
Rapunzel is surprised in a pleasant manner. Like 'OHMYGOSH Hiccup you grew up into a very nice young man'.
Merida is surprised in a... less pleasant manner. Like 'ICAN'TBELIEVE that fishbone turned into... THIS'. And a raised finger. She TRIED to object. Tried.
Jack is... complicated. After all how should you react when the cutie you knew turned out into a hot guy? It's kind of obvious the battle of hotness will soon be started in the midst of fangirls. xDD

P.S. Even if I love new design of Hiccup I kind of will miss his awkward younger self when the sequel will come out. He is adorable, what can I say?

I love Hiccup so much... (No I obviously hate him I mean i don't have a picture of him as my profile picture or dragon trainer in my name of course I hate him) Even after he got SUPER HOT -fangirls- he still is kind of awkward and nerdy and is still adorable

Before we start a shit storm, can I just say that I LOVE HTTYD okay?! And I have nothing against the hotter Hiccup but there's just something between awkward Hiccup and Toothless that just warms my freaking heart .__. Oh my god, that sounded so cheesy. I'm gonna stop now...

Believe me, many people would pick younger Hiccup over older Hiccup. I am one of them for sure.
I can understand your opinion about Hiccup and Toothless. It warms my heart too, just thinking about such a young awkward lad bonding with a dangerous beast. There is just...something special about it, don't you think?
And while I am more than ready to watch the sequel where Hiccup will finally grow into his title of Dragon Trainer/Conqueror/Tamer (and the battle scarred Toothless!!!) I am going to horribly miss his awkward young self.
Let's just hope that beneath that new-found hotness there is still sassy, a little awkward and good old Hiccup there. xD
