There are many good stories about the huldra though I don't think she is well known outside Sweden and Norway. But most countries have their own versions of her I guess. Dangerous but charming spirits of the wild have always been popular in mythology.
Stupid nasty hard to draw hands, always messing up my art. I better just start all over with a new picture I guess.
Thank you very much.

Realy old mythology is realy interesting. For example reading Asterix as a kid made me study a bit about the celts.
Except countries without woods. They have sea or desert gods and spirits instead.

Indeed. But to some they still are. It is deep down in our subconscious. And that is amazing.
I just thought about stuff like that today.
Why we are still afraid when we hear a noise in a dark celler, even though we know that there can't be anything dangerous?
Stuff like that.

For almost as long as there has been humans the forest has been a dark and dangerous place where you can get lost or be killed by something hiding there. Those who didn't fear the dark unknown was removed by natural selection. This fear won't go away anytime soon just because we recently tamed the wilds of the Earth.

Tack för favoriten. Skogsrået är ett av mina favoritmonster. Nog kan jag förstå att man skulle vilja vara lika farlig och vacker som ett skogsrå. Jag tror nog att jag rita ett nytt skogsrå.

Actually, mythological forest creatures of any culture are rarely cute and nice. The forest has always been a place of danger and it's only in the very recent past that we began to idealize that into something pleasant and beautiful.

True, and the same for marine equivalents. I guess these days we don't have a reason to fear whatever lurks in the dark woods anymore so we can turn the old mythological creatures into something more cute and marketable.
