The funny thing is that Usopp recently shown signs that he may have split personality so this really fits!
The current secondary persona, Segoking, is good, but with all taht stress it's possible that a menacing personality could emerge... I'd imagine it would look like this!

Artistically, it is very nicely done, it has great coloring and composition and you are very creative!
But I have to disagree with trying to make him cooler. If I had to choose between this design and the original, I would choose the original. His character design is rather genius if you stop to analyze it. Things don't always have to look badass.
But, that's just my opinion. I still like it as a well-done piece!

haha well compared to the other characters in that show you could say his design is "genius" but ass a whole the character design is what ruins the show as a whole and makes it un-watchable for any one who inst a die hard fan like your self ;-D

Actually it's the horrible English voices that they give to the anime characters taht turn me off! The Japanese voices are a lot better and I read the subtitles. I HATE the English subs, the only anime I can tolerate in English is InuYasha I hate the voices in One Piece and Yu Yu Hakusho. I hear them and I run as fast as I can to turn it off!They think that since Usopp and Kuwabara are the goof balls that they should have these horrible voices and alter lines making them from goofy to very stupid

Actually, I wasn't a die-hard fan until someone forced me to give it a chance, haha. I used to be put off by the style and such myself, but one: it grew on me and two: the artist's style has grown a lot since the first chapters. I guess it also depends on one's definition of good character design. Mine is very diverse, and I'm always open to new things. I'm not quite sure what yours is, but each to their own, yes?

id say i have a pretty diverse definition, in fact i can almost always find one character to like in anything. one peace is just one of the few that has nothing for me, i litterly feel ill when i see the style, but then again dragon ball character design makes me feel gross too and it's insanely popular.
