Chapter 1: Rival's Match
Smash Mansion:

In the grass green fields of the Smash Mansion stood a Lucario. The Lucario stood near the pond meditating, and concentrating in on his aura. He focused on the aura in the surrounding environment. He absorbed the acoustic sound of the birds chirping in the trees above him. He let in a large inhale, as purple fire surrounded his paws. He exhaled and then threw a punch. He threw another punch followed by a powerful kick. He jumped back, quickly charging up an aura sphere. He then threw the aura sphere at the nearby pond. The water shot up violently, highly resembling a geyser. A few seconds later, the water settled back in, causing multiple ripples to show on the pond's surface.

"Wow! That was so cool!" yelled an excited voice behind Lucario.

Lucario turned around to see a blonde haired boy starting at him admirably. There was another boy with him who wore a red baseball cap. Both boys looked no older than ten

"Thank you Lucas." replied Lucario while smiling. "What brings you two out here?"
"They're going to be announcing today's match." said Lucas excitably.

"Yeah, so we don't want to be late." said Ness as he pulled out his Yo-Yo and started to fiddle with it. "Besides I'm hyped to see who's fighting today as well."

Lucario smiled. "I am too. We better head back before they start without us." he advised.

"Agreed." said Lucas. They all started to walk across the field but not even halfway there, Lucas started to get overly excited once again. "Oh boy! Oh boy!" he yelled. He started throwing childish jabs. "I'm really psyched to see whose brawling. Maybe it's Link vs. Ike, or even Snake vs. Fox."

Lucario and Ness couldn't help but chuckle to themselves over how psyched Lucas was. "Well he seems very upbeat today." remarked Lucario.

"You kidding me?" Ness said while chuckling. "He's always like this before a match. I've fought against Giygas and honestly it sounds like a better trade up fighting him again than hear Lucas like this every day."

Lucario laughed to himself at Ness' remark.

A few minutes later, they arrived at the large mansion and started navigating their way toward the smash room. They made their way down the large halls of the mansion and came to the door of the smash room. "Yay! We're finally here!" said Lucas excitably. He opened the door and the three of them entered. The smash room was a large lounge of sorts. The floor had a very intricate green carpet. The walls were made of mahogany. It had a mini bar, couches, a few coffee tables, and at the far wall was a large flat screen TV that was used for the announcements. Inside were most of the smashers. Fox, Falco and Wolf were having a dispute; Ike and Marth were conversing with Captain Falcon.

"Hmmm....I don't see Link or Snake. I wonder where they are." said a puzzled Lucario with his eyes scanning the room.

"Right behind you!" said Snake. Before Lucario could turn around and react, Snake grabbed and twisted one Lucario's arms shoving it up against his back. He then wrapped his other arm around his neck, locking him in a chokehold. "Heh, gotcha." said Snake while snickering. Lucario let out a groan and cursed under his breath. He knew he was defeated. Snake then released Lucario and said, "You gotta be quicker next time."
Lucario chuckled as a cocky grin spread. "I admit you got me this time, but don't expect it to be so easy next time."

"I wouldn't certainly hope not." said Snake.

Link laughed and said, "You two are always competitive with one another."
"What do you expect?" responded Lucario. "Snake and I may be good friends, but at the same time," Lucario and Snake stared at each other both with fire in their eyes. "we're rivals."

"True." said Link. He then looked at the screen. "I'm wondering who's going to brawl today."

Ganondorf walked up to Link with an evil grin that gave bone chilling vibes plastered on his face. "I hope it's you and I who brawl. I want to make you suffer," He chuckled a few times. "just like how I made her suffer."

Link's expression immediately went into rage and he unsheathed his sword. He then charged for Ganondorf, but was held back by Lucario and Snake. "You bastard!!" he screamed causing everyone in the room to stop conversing and stare at him. "I will kill you for what you have done!!" His threat didn't even intimidating Ganondorf as his evil grin was still plastered on his face.

Link tried to break free from Lucario and Snake's grip but was unsuccessful. Ness and Lucas stared in horror. "Damn it Link, cut it out!!" yelled Snake gruffly.

"He's not worth it!!" said Lucario, trying to calm Link.

Ganondorf laughed manically. "Temper, temper, Link!" He taunted. "Don't worry my old friend. Our time to fight will come and when it does, we'll see who's the better man." said Ganondorf as he walked off.

Link growled for a few more seconds but began to settle down over time. He took a deep breath relieving the tension within him. Lucario and Snake released him from their grip. "You alright?" said Snake in an annoyed tone.

Link still had an angered look on his face. "I will be Snake." He said while still glaring at Ganondorf.

"Good because I don't want to have to go to extreme measures to stop you because someone pushed your buttons!" snapped Snake. Link and Snake exchanged glares.

The crowd continued to stare at Link until Lucario yelled, "Alright! The matter is over! Go back to whatever you were doing." There was a few seconds delay but everyone in the room did as Lucario said and looked away, continuing their conversations.

Both Ness and Lucas had both worried and confused looks on their faces. "Old friend? Her? What did he mean by that Link?" inquired Lucas.

Link looked down at the two boys. "I'll tell you another time."

Directly after Link said that, a catchy jingle played over the intercom as the TV at the far wall of the room turned on. Everyone stopped conversing and stared at the screen as a short animation video of the Smash Logo started to form itself. After the animation was over, the screen turned to a man who wore sunglasses with a black suit. He stood in front of a large crowd as he held the mic up to mouth and said "Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen!! It is time to announce today's match!!" The crowd in the stands cheered. "Today we have a special treat for you! Today is a RIVAL'S MATCH!!!" yelled the MC passionately. The crowd roared in greater applause than normal. Everyone in the smash room smiled slyly. These were the days when the real interesting fights occurred. "Today our match will have the legendary mercenary, Snake pit himself against the aura Pokémon, Lucario!!" The crowd in the stands roared as the screen displayed both of their artworks. A few seconds later the TV in the announcement went to a standby screen.

Lucas' jaw nearly hit the floor. He felt as if he was going to explode over how hyped he was "Whoa!! No way!! Snake vs. Lucario!! This is so cool!!" yelled an excited Lucas.

"Indeed it is." agreed Ness in a calm tone. Even though he didn't look it, Ness was jumping for joy inside.

Lucario and Snake stared at each other both with flames in their eyes. "I'll see you in the transporter room." said Snake.

"Likewise, Snake." said Lucario. The two of them exited the announcement room and made their way towards the transporter room.

On a nearby cliff that oversaw the stadium where the crowds were, stood the man who wore the black trench coat. He laughed to himself. "This should prove interesting." He said. "Let's see what these "heroes" are capable of."

Link, Lucas and Ness all stared at the screen until they heard a voice all out, "It's a shame you and I won't get to brawl today!" Link looked over and saw a young man with blue hair who wore a blue coat, tan pants, and red cape. He walked over to Link. He also wore a black bandana and wielded a large red blade.

A smile spread across Link's face. "Ike!" The two of them gave each other a bro fist. "It indeed is a shame, but this match is a good one nonetheless." said Link.

Both of them stared back at the screen. "So who do you think will win?" inquired Ike. "I say Snake."

"I'm not sure. Snake's really good and he beat Lucario once before but Lucario's also very good. I'll put my money on Lucario."

"Very well, loser pays fifty. Deal?" said Ike extending his hand.

Link shook his hand. "Deal!" The two of them stared back at the screen waiting for the match to start.

Lucario and Snake walked down the halls of the mansion until Lucario saw his good friend Samus leaning up against the wall, in her zero suit. Lucario smiled. "Hello Samus." he said.

Samus returned his smile with one of her own. "Hello Lucario." She looked over and saw that Snake was standing there with his arms crossed. "and hello Snake." Snake remained silent with his arms still crossed. Samus gave him a puzzled look but then decided to turn her attention back to Lucario. "I heard about your match over the intercom. Sounds very exciting."

"That it is Samus." agreed Lucario. "I've been waiting a long time for a rematch with Snake. He may have beaten me once before," His paw ignited with purple aura with its glow covering a part of his face. "but I won't lose this time!"

"Hmph! Don't get too ahead of yourself Lucario!" warned Snake. "Now let's go or we'll be late." He pulled out one of his cigarettes and lit it up. Even though it was against the rules to smoke in the mansion, Snake really wasn't one to give a damn. He then continued his pace down the hall.

Lucario nodded. "Right." He looked back at Samus. "I'll see you later."

"I'll be watching the match. Good luck." she said.

He looked back at her one more time. "Thank you." he said before running down the hall. After a few seconds he caught up to Snake and matched his pace. He noticed that Snake had a cigarette in his mouth. Lucario sighed and rolled his eyes. "Snake, you know it's against the rules to smoke in here."

"Yeah well, sue me." he replied after puffing out some more smoke. A few moments later both he and Lucario stood in front of a metal door that read, "Transporter Room" He pulled out a small capsule from one of his belt's pouches. He groaned a little. "I would have liked to have finished this." He let out one more puff of smoke before sticking the cigarette in the capsule. Snake groaned a little "Well we're here." he said.
Lucario stuck out his paw. "May the best man win."

Snake grinned. "Indeed." he said shaking Lucario's paw. The two of them both walked within proximity of the door as it slid open. Snake was already familiar with these kinds of doors. They worked exactly like the doors at Shadow Moses and the Big Shell. The two of them walked in as the door slid itself shut behind them. The transporter room a fairly small room. The floor was gray with four large white circular pads. Mounted on the wall was a flat screen TV.

A light filled the room as the TV turned itself on. On the screen was a man who looked to be in his early 30's. He had brown hair, and blue eyes. He wore glasses, an icy blue shirt with a white lab coat over it. "Snake, Lucario, good to see you both." he said while pushing on his nose to adjust his glasses.

Snake and Lucario grinned. "Otacon!" replied Snake.

"Well they sure know how to get the crowds and ratings going. This match proves it." He exclaimed." "I mean this is a match people have been dying to see for a long time now. Myself included"

"Otacon...." said a slightly annoyed Lucario

Otacon chuckled. "Right, sorry. I got caught up in the moment." Otacon then leaned back in his chair and said, "Anyways this is a two stock match and the only item will be the smash ball. The stage you'll be fighting on is none other than Shadow Moses Island."

"Figures...." groaned Snake. "At least it's a holographic projection and not the real thing."

Otacon nodded. "Yeah, it'd be a complete nightmare if it were. Too many things there I'd like to put behind."   Otacon cleared his throat. "But enough about that.  Both of you get ready." Snake and Lucario both posed for their entrances as a bright light surrounded them. "Ok transport in 3...2..." As each second passed the light that surrounded Lucario and Snake intensified. "1..."

After Otacon's count, Snake and Lucario felt their bodies being turned into raw energy as they beamed out of the room. A few seconds later their bodies reformed as Lucario and Snake entered the stage. A harsh blizzard consumed the nightfallen stage. Lucario flexed onto the stage while Snake's stealth camouflage disengaged. The song, "Yell Dead Cell." played on the holodeck's intercom. "3...2...1....GO!!" yelled the MC over the intercom.

Lucario immediately began charging an aura sphere as Snake chucked a grenade. The grenade landed right in front of Lucario. Lucario stopped charging his aura sphere and rolled out of the way onto the ground just before the grenade exploded. That cost him dearly as Snake managed to land two jabs on him. Snake's jabs managed to stun Lucario enough for him to roundhouse Lucario in the gut. Lucario was knocked back by Snake's kick. Lucario was knocked onto his back, but he quickly got back up onto his feet. Lucario growled to himself "Damnit! He's drawn first blood!" cursed Lucario as he breath turned to steam from the cold wind. Lucario knew that even though that he was fighting type, Snake's superior CQC techniques made him a hard opponent to defeat. Snake was perfectly able to attack and counter attack with ease. Lucario threw his aura sphere at Snake, but he managed to dodge it. Dodging it however, left Snake vulnerable. Lucario took this chance and charged Snake. Once he was close enough, he quickly used force palm to knock Snake back. Snake was knocked back a few feet. While he was airborne, he performed a reverse summersault, and landed on his legs. He legs were spread apart and he used one of his hands in order to come to a skidding stop.

A sly smile was spread across Snake's face. "Heh! Gotcha!" Lucario's eyes bulged. He looked down and what he saw left him in complete horror. Without him noticing, Snake managed to plant a C4 charge right in front of Lucario. Snake pulled out the detonator and yelled, "Now!" The C4 exploded directly beneath Lucario, sending him flying to the top level of the stage. Lucario landed hard on his back as Snake followed him up with his Cypher. Lucario got back up onto his feet just as Snake let go of his Cypher. While freefalling, Snake quickly pulled out his Nikita missile launcher and fired off a missile.

"Uh-Oh!" yelled Lucario as the missile sped towards him. Lucario was surprised at how quickly Snake continued his assault. Then again, Snake was just as agile as he was skilled. Lucario quickly ran towards one of the search light towers. He quickly jumped into the air, as the missile followed him up. He quickly readjusted himself so that his legs were facing the tower. When Lucario's legs hit the tower's side, he quickly pushed of it, just before the missile hit. The missile exploded the instant it hit the tower's side. The explosion caused the top half of the searchlight tower to collapse with a loud thundering roar.

"Damn…" grumbled Snake as he holstered the Nikita launcher. The airborne Lucario charged an aura sphere as he made his descent to earth. Lucario waited for the perfect opportune moment to fire off his aura sphere. Too early and Snake would easily dodge it. Too late and Lucario knew he'd be an easy target for Snake's counter attack. Just a moment later, Lucario saw his perfect chance. He knew at this spot Snake couldn't possibly react in time. Lucario thrust both of his paws forward, hurtling the ball of energy at Snake. However, to Lucario's amazement Snake quickly jumped back as the aura sphere landed only a few inches from his toes. Though Snake may have dodged a direct hit the shockwave from the attack sent Snake hurtling into the other searchlight tower. Snake fell onto his hands and knees, but got quickly got back up. He's taken blows far worse. Lucario landed on the stage's catwalk and was completely shocked by Snake's trick. Lucario slyly smiled. He wouldn't have expected less from Snake, let alone his rival.
Lucario quickly charged Snake while he was still recuperating. "SNAKE!!!" roared Lucario. Before Snake could react, Lucario managed to land two jabs. One in the chest, the other in the gut. Lucario then delivered a powerful kick to Snake's gut, causing him hunch over in pain.

Snake gritted his teeth from the pain, but ignored as he kneed Lucario back. He then attempted an overhead swing but Lucairo used double team and disappeared from Snake's sight, "!"

"Heh! Heh! You're mine now!" said Lucario. He performed a sliding kick that knocked Snake out of the stage, causing him to lose one of his stocks.

Everyone in the smash room was in amazement at how this was playing out. Lucas stood their biting his nails over how intense the match was. Link and Ike were especially nervous considering that they both put wages on the match. Ike cursed under his breath while he slapped his face with his palm. Link let out a laugh. "Lucairo's winning!" He gave Ike a sinister look. "Wanna give me the $50 now?" he teased.
"It's not over yet!" groaned Ike.

Lucario had a grin spread across his face. "How's that!?" he taunted. By this time Snake, dropped off the recovery platform, lifted his leg to head height, and axe-dropped it down. Snake's powerful kick managed to slam Lucario's body down into catwalk. Lucario felt a ringing pain in his head but ignored it as he got up. He then felt his paw being twisted and being shoved against his arm. He then felt Snake's arm wrap tightly around his neck. Lucario tried to break free of Snake's vice grasp but it was of no use. Snake had managed to catch his prey.

Snake then threw Lucario over his knees, sending Lucario flying off the stage and causing him to lose one of his stocks. "You managed to take one of my stocks! Don't get cocky Lucario!" snapped Snake. Lucario jumped off the recovery platform, cursing to himself that he allowed Snake to get the best of him. "Looks like we're even." said Lucario.
Snake nodded. The two glared at each other, both locked in the heated battle. A second later, a quick flash of light filled the stage as a smash ball appeared above them. Snake and Lucario felt themselves tense as they saw the multicolored ball. Lucario immediately jumped in the air and landed a blow on the smash ball. It did not however, shatter. Lucario then went for another attack, only to be knocked back by some kind of explosion that hit him in mid air. He looked down and saw that Snake had used his mortar. Not only did Snake's mortar knock Lucario back, it also shattered the smash ball. Lucario gasped as he saw that Snake was covered in a rainbow aura. He knew what was coming next. Snake kneeled on the ground as he placed his hand up to his ear. "Its Showtime!!" he yelled as he leaped off the stage and grabbed onto a rope ladder. Snake pulled out a Milkor MGL grenade launcher and aimed it at Lucario.
Lucario went wide eyed as he saw Snake in the helicopter ready to open fire. Snake then fired off his first grenade. "Damn!!" said Lucario to himself. He rolled out of the way of the first grenade but he knew that wasn't enough. He knew that Snake would be able to perfectly predict his move and sure enough, he did. Snake fired off a second round that landed right next to Lucario. Lucario was caught in the explosion and went airborne from it. Snake fired off his third round that hit Lucario directly in the chest, knocking him off the stage entirely.

A sly smile appeared across Snake's face. "Heh, gotcha!"

"GAME!!" yelled the announcer over the intercom.

The man who stood on the cliff had a look of amusement on his face as he watched the climax of the brawl. "Interesting. Snake, a mere human, was able to defeat such a powerful Pokémon such as Lucario. I commend him but let's just see how well they handle the darkness!" He stretched out his hand as it glowed with a dark purple aura. "Come my warriors!!" he called. A storm cloud appeared over him as three black flames fell from it. The flames fell in front of him as they took their form. One took the appearance of Marth, except his skin, hair, and clothes were black and his eyes glowed red. One took the appearance of Fox except his fur was darker, his scanner was red instead of green, and he wore a black uniform instead of white. The last one took the form of Donkey Kong except his fur was black as opposed to brown. He also wore a yellow tie as opposed to red. The three dark counterparts bowed before their master. "Rise, my warriors." He commanded. The three dark counterparts got on their feet, ready to accept any order their master was going to give to them. "Kill the two smashers. It's time that we make our appearance known and strike fear into the hearts of many!!" he roared. He waved his hand over the three counterparts as they teleported away. "Let the games begin."

Link looked over and saw a young man with blue hair who wore a blue coat, tan pants, and red cape. He walked over to Link. He also wore a black bandana and wielded a large red blade.

A smile spread across Link's face. "Ike!" The two of them gave each other a bro fist. "It indeed is a shame, but this match is a good one nonetheless." said Link.

Both of them stared back at the screen. "So who do you think will win?" inquired Ike. "I say Snake."

"I'm not sure. Snake's really good and he beat Lucario once before but Lucario's also very good. I'll put my money on Lucario."

"Very well, loser pays fifty. Deal?" said Ike extending his hand.

Link shook his hand. "Deal!" The two of them stared back at the screen waiting for the match to start.

Lucario and Snake walked down the halls of the mansion until Lucario saw his good friend Samus leaning up against the wall, in her zero suit. Lucario smiled. "Hello Samus." he said.

Samus returned his smile with one of her own. "Hello Lucario." She looked over and saw that Snake was standing there with his arms crossed. "and hello Snake." Snake remained silent with his arms still crossed. Samus gave him a puzzled look but then decided to turn her attention back to Lucario. "I heard about your match over the intercom. Sounds very exciting."

"That it is Samus." agreed Lucario. "I've been waiting a long time for a rematch with Snake. He may have beaten me once before," His paw ignited with purple aura with its glow covering a part of his face. "but I won't lose this time!"

"Hmph! Don't get too ahead of yourself Lucario!" warned Snake. "Now let's go or we'll be late." He pulled out one of his cigarettes and lit it up. Even though it was against the rules to smoke in the mansion, Snake really wasn't one to give a damn. He then continued his pace down the hall.

Lucario nodded. "Right." He looked back at Samus. "I'll see you later."

"I'll be watching the match. Good luck." she said.

He looked back at her one more time. "Thank you." he said before running down the hall. After a few seconds he caught up to Snake and matched his pace. He noticed that Snake had a cigarette in his mouth. Lucario sighed and rolled his eyes. "Snake, you know it's against the rules to smoke in here."

"Yeah well, sue me." he replied after puffing out some more smoke. A few moments later both he and Lucario stood in front of a metal door that read, "Transporter Room" He pulled out a small capsule from one of his belt's pouches. He groaned a little. "I would have liked to have finished this." He let out one more puff of smoke before sticking the cigarette in the capsule. Snake groaned a little "Well we're here." he said.
Lucario stuck out his paw. "May the best man win."

Snake grinned. "Indeed." he said shaking Lucario's paw. The two of them both walked within proximity of the door as it slid open. Snake was already familiar with these kinds of doors. They worked exactly like the doors at Shadow Moses and the Big Shell. The two of them walked in as the door slid itself shut behind them. The transporter room a fairly small room. The floor was gray with four large white circular pads. Mounted on the wall was a flat screen TV.

A light filled the room as the TV turned itself on. On the screen was a man who looked to be in his early 30's. He had brown hair, and blue eyes. He wore glasses, an icy blue shirt with a white lab coat over it. "Snake, Lucario, good to see you both." he said while pushing on his nose to adjust his glasses.

Snake and Lucario grinned. "Otacon!" replied Snake.

"Well they sure know how to get the crowds and ratings going. This match proves it." He exclaimed." "I mean this is a match people have been dying to see for a long time now. Myself included"

"Otacon...." said a slightly annoyed Lucario

Otacon chuckled. "Right, sorry. I got caught up in the moment." Otacon then leaned back in his chair and said, "Anyways this is a two stock match and the only item will be the smash ball. The stage you'll be fighting on is none other than Shadow Moses Island."

"Figures...." groaned Snake. "At least it's a holographic projection and not the real thing."

Otacon nodded. "Yeah, it'd be a complete nightmare if it were. Too many things there I'd like to put behind."   Otacon cleared his throat. "But enough about that.  Both of you get ready." Snake and Lucario both posed for their entrances as a bright light surrounded them. "Ok transport in 3...2..." As each second passed the light that surrounded Lucario and Snake intensified. "1..."

After Otacon's count, Snake and Lucario felt their bodies being turned into raw energy as they beamed out of the room. A few seconds later their bodies reformed as Lucario and Snake entered the stage. A harsh blizzard consumed the nightfallen stage. Lucario flexed onto the stage while Snake's stealth camouflage disengaged. The song, "Yell Dead Cell." played on the holodeck's intercom. "3...2...1....GO!!" yelled the MC over the intercom.

Lucario immediately began charging an aura sphere as Snake chucked a grenade. The grenade landed right in front of Lucario. Lucario stopped charging his aura sphere and rolled out of the way onto the ground just before the grenade exploded. That cost him dearly as Snake managed to land two jabs on him. Snake's jabs managed to stun Lucario enough for him to roundhouse Lucario in the gut. Lucario was knocked back by Snake's kick. Lucario was knocked onto his back, but he quickly got back up onto his feet. Lucario growled to himself "Damnit! He's drawn first blood!" cursed Lucario as he breath turned to steam from the cold wind. Lucario knew that even though that he was fighting type, Snake's superior CQC techniques made him a hard opponent to defeat. Snake was perfectly able to attack and counter attack with ease. Lucario threw his aura sphere at Snake, but he managed to dodge it. Dodging it however, left Snake vulnerable. Lucario took this chance and charged Snake. Once he was close enough, he quickly used force palm to knock Snake back. Snake was knocked back a few feet. While he was airborne, he performed a reverse summersault, and landed on his legs. He legs were spread apart and he used one of his hands in order to come to a skidding stop.

A sly smile was spread across Snake's face. "Heh! Gotcha!" Lucario's eyes bulged. He looked down and what he saw left him in complete horror. Without him noticing, Snake managed to plant a C4 charge right in front of Lucario. Snake pulled out the detonator and yelled, "Now!" The C4 exploded directly beneath Lucario, sending him flying to the top level of the stage. Lucario landed hard on his back as Snake followed him up with his Cypher. Lucario got back up onto his feet just as Snake let go of his Cypher. While freefalling, Snake quickly pulled out his Nikita missile launcher and fired off a missile.

"Uh-Oh!" yelled Lucario as the missile sped towards him. Lucario was surprised at how quickly Snake continued his assault. Then again, Snake was just as agile as he was skilled. Lucario quickly ran towards one of the search light towers. He quickly jumped into the air, as the missile followed him up. He quickly readjusted himself so that his legs were facing the tower. When Lucario's legs hit the tower's side, he quickly pushed of it, just before the missile hit. The missile exploded the instant it hit the tower's side. The explosion caused the top half of the searchlight tower to collapse with a loud thundering roar.

"Damn…" grumbled Snake as he holstered the Nikita launcher. The airborne Lucario charged an aura sphere as he made his descent to earth. Lucario waited for the perfect opportune moment to fire off his aura sphere. Too early and Snake would easily dodge it. Too late and Lucario knew he'd be an easy target for Snake's counter attack. Just a moment later, Lucario saw his perfect chance. He knew at this spot Snake couldn't possibly react in time. Lucario thrust both of his paws forward, hurtling the ball of energy at Snake. However, to Lucario's amazement Snake quickly jumped back as the aura sphere landed only a few inches from his toes. Though Snake may have dodged a direct hit the shockwave from the attack sent Snake hurtling into the other searchlight tower. Snake fell onto his hands and knees, but got quickly got back up. He's taken blows far worse. Lucario landed on the stage's catwalk and was completely shocked by Snake's trick. Lucario slyly smiled. He wouldn't have expected less from Snake, let alone his rival.
Lucario quickly charged Snake while he was still recuperating. "SNAKE!!!" roared Lucario. Before Snake could react, Lucario managed to land two jabs. One in the chest, the other in the gut. Lucario then delivered a powerful kick to Snake's gut, causing him hunch over in pain.

Snake gritted his teeth from the pain, but ignored as he kneed Lucario back. He then attempted an overhead swing but Lucairo used double team and disappeared from Snake's sight, "!"

"Heh! Heh! You're mine now!" said Lucario. He performed a sliding kick that knocked Snake out of the stage, causing him to lose one of his stocks.

Everyone in the smash room was in amazement at how this was playing out. Lucas stood their biting his nails over how intense the match was. Link and Ike were especially nervous considering that they both put wages on the match. Ike cursed under his breath while he slapped his face with his palm. Link let out a laugh. "Lucairo's winning!" He gave Ike a sinister look. "Wanna give me the $50 now?" he teased.
"It's not over yet!" groaned Ike.

Lucario had a grin spread across his face. "How's that!?" he taunted. By this time Snake, dropped off the recovery platform, lifted his leg to head height, and axe-dropped it down. Snake's powerful kick managed to slam Lucario's body down into catwalk. Lucario felt a ringing pain in his head but ignored it as he got up. He then felt his paw being twisted and being shoved against his arm. He then felt Snake's arm wrap tightly around his neck. Lucario tried to break free of Snake's vice grasp but it was of no use. Snake had managed to catch his prey.

Snake then threw Lucario over his knees, sending Lucario flying off the stage and causing him to lose one of his stocks. "You managed to take one of my stocks! Don't get cocky Lucario!" snapped Snake. Lucario jumped off the recovery platform, cursing to himself that he allowed Snake to get the best of him. "Looks like we're even." said Lucario.
Snake nodded. The two glared at each other, both locked in the heated battle. A second later, a quick flash of light filled the stage as a smash ball appeared above them. Snake and Lucario felt themselves tense as they saw the multicolored ball. Lucario immediately jumped in the air and landed a blow on the smash ball. It did not however, shatter. Lucario then went for another attack, only to be knocked back by some kind of explosion that hit him in mid air. He looked down and saw that Snake had used his mortar. Not only did Snake's mortar knock Lucario back, it also shattered the smash ball. Lucario gasped as he saw that Snake was covered in a rainbow aura. He knew what was coming next. Snake kneeled on the ground as he placed his hand up to his ear. "Its Showtime!!" he yelled as he leaped off the stage and grabbed onto a rope ladder. Snake pulled out a Milkor MGL grenade launcher and aimed it at Lucario.
Lucario went wide eyed as he saw Snake in the helicopter ready to open fire. Snake then fired off his first grenade. "Damn!!" said Lucario to himself. He rolled out of the way of the first grenade but he knew that wasn't enough. He knew that Snake would be able to perfectly predict his move and sure enough, he did. Snake fired off a second round that landed right next to Lucario. Lucario was caught in the explosion and went airborne from it. Snake fired off his third round that hit Lucario directly in the chest, knocking him off the stage entirely.

A sly smile appeared across Snake's face. "Heh, gotcha!"

"GAME!!" yelled the announcer over the intercom.

The man who stood on the cliff had a look of amusement on his face as he watched the climax of the brawl. "Interesting. Snake, a mere human, was able to defeat such a powerful Pokémon such as Lucario. I commend him but let's just see how well they handle the darkness!" He stretched out his hand as it glowed with a dark purple aura. "Come my warriors!!" he called. A storm cloud appeared over him as three black flames fell from it. The flames fell in front of him as they took their form. One took the appearance of Marth, except his skin, hair, and clothes were black and his eyes glowed red. One took the appearance of Fox except his fur was darker, his scanner was red instead of green, and he wore a black uniform instead of white. The last one took the form of Donkey Kong except his fur was black as opposed to brown. He also wore a yellow tie as opposed to red. The three dark counterparts bowed before their master. "Rise, my warriors." He commanded. The three dark counterparts got on their feet, ready to accept any order their master was going to give to them. "Kill the two smashers. It's time that we make our appearance known and strike fear into the hearts of many!!" he roared. He waved his hand over the three counterparts as they teleported away. "Let the games begin."
