The eye alone could stand as a completed piece. I recognized her eye even before reading the title.

Did you draw the lines on the paper?

Yes I always use a grid over the reference picture and on the paper. It helps me to keep proportions so I can focus my skills on the rendering without being too much distracted by measuring distances etc. I prefer to spend some time on a preliminary grid instead of being continuously checking if I'm doing this or that feature the right size.

Do you have a special ruler to make a grid?

Luca........I just love that softness, it really works as a piece on its own.......I am always amazed at how you pencil artists can work and complete a small area at a time and the whole just comes together at the end................I always need to work overall.....balancing, adjusting, reworking........rebalancing etc, etc........

I never had any training either......sometimes I think it is so much better than having influences forced upon you.........keep working in your comfort zone....look forward to the finished piece............

yeah sometimes I think it's better this way so that we can express ourselves and use the technique we want without having been too much influenced by a style we doesn't recognize as our "own".
