Dexter getting ready for a night out on the town.

This painting took quite a bit longer than my previous Dexter portrait. I find ¾ views much trickier than profile views but the most difficult part was the hands. I didn’t have proper reference for his gloves or the syringe and vial so I had to use bits and pieces of various reference images and hope for the best. :/ In the actual screen capture that I used for the pose Dexter is peeling a banana. Bananas don’t quite have that ominous quality I was going for.

Oh, and the title is from a Ministry tune.

Painted in Photoshop 6 with a Wacom Graphire 3 pen tablet. Screencap used as reference, of course. 8 hours.

This looks awesome, and you'll be happy to know it chilled all the blood in my veins. In my arteries too. ç7ç (I've only seen the first episode of Dexter and he scared the hell out of me, boo-hoooo!! çAç)

*gasp* i insist you watch more episodes!!! this show is amazing! it will go against every moral fibre in your body but you WILL end up liking him AND rooting for him after a few episodes. he's magical. *u* the fact that the people he kills are really awful people definitely helps. think of him as an ultra-realistic Batman.

What could be fun: take this piece and use the transform tool to make the hands bigger (hands are a lot bigger than you think--remember, an open hand is the size of your face) and just tweak that way. Maybe do a horizontal flip too, to shake your brain up. Then you'll learn more for your next piece!

You're painting skills are beyond what is humanly possible. (And from reading the reply from Ace I was spot on. XD )
I can't comprehend how you could paint something so epic and in such a short amount of time! It's just all so perfect. The lighting, pose, expression, hair, everything is marvelous!....only I would have kept the banana. Nothing says murder like sticking a syringe into a banana bby.
