Description I LOVE IT. IT'S SO PERFECT.
And I love Gengars, like I said :'D
I put in a lot of effort into making it.. It took me three days, but it was worth it I'm really glad that I redid the pattern, brcause the first attempt looked much like a Clefable I still have that, so I'll upload that if I have the time/if I care

Gengar is about 30-40cm big, and making a pattern was quite difficult, because I didn't know which gen I should make o.o I decided to stick with the older ones, because I prefer the oval shape over the spherical one. But the spikes are from the newer gen, because I thought they would look better than those single spikes
(If you want to see my references, here's the first one: sprites choose "alle Generationen" to see the sprites of all gens and the second one: plush )

He's so awesome and perfect, and I'm so glad that I made him~

Pattern: IMPORTANT: the size of the pattern is DIN A4!
Pt.1: here
Pt.2: here
Pt.3: here
Pt.4: here

Instructions:
1. start with sewing on the arms, legs and ears (one half of each part to each part of the body - so if you're done, you should have a flat, gengar looking front and two half backs, which look like a half gengar). If you take a look at the leg, there's a ._._._._. line (same goes for the ears and the sole). It makes it look like the leg needs to be cut in half - but it doesn't! It shows which part of the leg should be sewn onto the body. the two points where the line meets the outer line of the leg should be aligned with the ends of the half-circle on the body..(hope that's understandable.. somehow ^^"). Aligning everything might be a bit fiddly, but it works

2. close up the darts in the front body (the ones in the top middle and bottom middle) and sew the two back parts together, so it looks similar to the front - but leave an opening near the end! The lowest part should be sewn together though. So if you start at the top, close the back until...the half or sth like that, then leave an opening (about 8-10 cm), then close up the rest of the back to the bottom. This hole will be used later for turning the plush inside out.

3. start with sewing the legs together. Again, the ._._._. helps with aligning everything correctly. stop sewing as soon as you reach the toe-line. now you should have a leg which is closed up at the left and the right, is connected to one front and one back part at the top and open on the bottom. Take the sole, align it with the leg and sew it on. Again, this might be a bit fiddly, but if it doesn't look good, you can always redo the seam - repeat with the other leg

4. close up the gap between the legs and sew around the remaining gengar (so arms, ears, ...). Now the only thing left is to turn the plush inside out. If you've done everything correctly, everything should be closed up and looking sth like a gengar. Stuff it (it needs a lot of stuffing, seriously - otherwise it looks weird) and close the opening on the back with a ladder stitch.

5. Place the tail where you want it to be, pin it onto the plush and stuff it (if you pin it first, it's a bit easier to stuff it - at least for me) and sew it on. Of course you can't use the machine for that Anyways, make sure that you hide the ugly edge of the fabric. to do so, just fold it (difficult to explain, but it's like with the ruff from the eevee plush.. in the tutorial you can the a sketch of what I mean.. maybe that helps )

6. Pin the middle spike in place and start sewing it on. Sew on one side, then stuff one single spike, sew it on, stuff the next spike, sew it on.. it takes quite a while, but that's definitely the easiest way and the stufffing will stay in place... do the same with the outer spikes. I'd recommend that you sew them onto the body on the side which is next to the middle spike, because afterwards you won't be able to reach that side properly. Again, stuff one spike, sew it on,.... like the tail, make sure you fold the edge of the fabric, so that it looks neat

7. if you haven't already done so before, sew on the face. Since I don't have a embroidering machinge, I always do that last..

Information about the size and how to assemble the parts are in the description! Please read that first.
Also there is no video tutorial for this plush. The instructions explain which parts have to be sewn together in which way - if you don't know how to sew at all, I suggest you look for tutorials yourself, as - to be frank - that is not my job.

Excellent! Given the whole fan theory surrounding Gengar and Clefable would absolutely love to see a pattern for Clefable as well!

Thank you so much for the pattern! That plush was the hardest thing I've ever done and I think I nailed it! The instructions were a bit hard to understand (I'm not a native english speaker and a novice at sewing) but once you understand the first doted line thingy the whole process becomes easier. Again thank you for the instructions and the pattern and everything! It was very neat and clear!

youre welcome and I'm glad you like it~

I always try to make easy instructions, but it's really difficult for me too, since english isn't my first language either :'D
so I'm sorry but good that you understood it anyways
is there anything in particular I could've described better? Just for future tutorials

Hi! I'm gonna try making this (wish me luck!) do you maybe have a design or so for the eyes/mouth? Because I know I could just try it myself but I'm scared I'm gonna make a mess with the shape/size

Luminous-Luchador In reply to kristaldjem [2017-12-22 12:58:20 +0000 UTC]

Good luck
Sadly I don't have a pattern for the face (or a template or anything like that) since gengar is from a time when I didn't have an embroidery machine.. Back then I just tried it out with a pice of paper

If you want to add the face before assembling everything, I'd suggest drawing the face on my pattern, since the face won't get distorted much when stuffing

It's just perfect! I have a question for you : How much fabric did you use for making it ? I don't know yet if I need to buy fabric but if I need it could help a little bit. (If you remember !)
Thank you ! I'll show you the result when it will be finish done =3

Luminous-Luchador In reply to Ikeofthedusk [2016-03-21 10:17:07 +0000 UTC]

If the fabric is 1,50 m wide, you just need a length of about 30 cm (just as long as the biggest piece). But I'd recommend 50 cm, just to make sure. Usually it isn't that expensive and I'm sorry for the m and cm, I don't know how much that is in inch, and as soon as I open another tab to look it up, what I have written just disappers..

I'd love to see the finished plush! And there's instructions somewhere on one of the other comments if you haven't found them already
I'll add them tonthe description though, if I don't forget

Man findet oft neue Freunde

Hi, I'm trying to make this, but I'm having some trouble figuring out how everything goes together. Could I get some instructions? Thanks!! ( ´ ▽ ` )

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Luminous-Luchador In reply to Cecr0pia [2016-01-01 14:31:21 +0000 UTC]

suuuure I'll try my best to explain~ (everything is right side on right side of course, keep that in mind )

1. start with sewing on the arms, legs and ears (one half of each part to each part of the body - so if you're done, you should have a flat, gengar looking front and two half backs, which look like a half gengar).

Since I don't have a embroidering machinge, I always do that last..

now you should be done hope I could help, and if there's still anything unclear, just ask again and I'll try to explain better!

KensingtonSka [2015-10-09 23:11:47 +0000 UTC]

How do you sow the spikes onto the pattern? I don't quite understand, are they attached on top of the 'back body' body after they're sown together? Or did you cut bits out if the 'back body' parts to make space for them? I've never made a plush before, but I thought this one was really kool so I decided I'd give it a try

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Luminous-Luchador In reply to KensingtonSka [2015-10-10 01:27:25 +0000 UTC]

Just complete the body first (so sew everything together, stuff it and close it up).. Then sew the spikes together (so the two big ones and two times the two small ones) but leave the side which gets attached to the body (the curve) open. Pin it to the body and stuff one spike. Sew it on, and stuff the next spike when you get to it.. Repeat until done takes a bit of time, but you can position them just the way you like it
Oh, and when you sew them onto the body, make sure to..fold..(sorry, no native speaker, so I'm not sure that's the correct term) over the ugly edge..
I've explained that in a tutorial, but I'm not sure which it is.. If I remember, I'll look for it
