Description Part of my college graduation project - A series of photos using my friends as models. Each portrait is supposed to reflect the personality of the person in a fantasy/mythological setting. This was eons before cosplay

This photo was taken with a Canon AE1 using Infrared film, then I hand-tinted the b&w print with oils.

This series is amazing! I did a search on hand tinting and this came up. I'm about to do a series of landscapes and cityscapes in infrared then hand tint; do you have any tips you'd be willing to share? I've never shot infrared before and I'm kinda nervous. =]

So , so sorry I didn't reply sooner. I have not had a chance to attend to this page for a while.

I have not done any film photography in decades, never mind Infra red. What I do remember is that if you are shooting people you need to use very dark lipstick, I used a red filter on the lens. Had to experiment with the apertures and speed. Gods, it is too long ago...

Sunny days gave me more desired results because I liked the contrasts, gray cloudy days had too much dissipated ambient light.

I used oils to hand tint rather than tinting dyes, because oils were more forgiving. If you didn't like the look you could take it off with turpentine. The colours have not faded and I did those pics in the late 80's.

I am such a convert to digital, mostly because I don't have access to a proper darkroom like I used to. SO much easier to do it all in the computer.

You have probably done your work already, let me know I would love to see it

Forgive me again for my very late reply.

Catalina
