I've been working on this painting for a while and it is extremely satisfying to paint the final strokes! I've prepared with some background information, because my sources of inspiration were many different things. If you are following me since a while you may have noticed that I looove space and love astronomy and existential questions, and this piece is very close to my heart.

The skeletons you see are the Lovers of Valdaro. They are a pair of human skeletons that archeologists found in a Neolithic tomb in Italy. They were buried embracing each other. This tomb is approximately 6000 years old, which is an insanely long period of time. They were around 20 years old when they died, and it's a mistery who they've been and why was their life cut so short.

I wanted them to be painted in the embrace of the stars, and in the background painting you can see the Carina Nebula. It is found approximately 8500 light years away from Earth, in the Carina-Saggitarius arm of the Milky Way. Its age and its distance from Earth makes it even more myterios for me than the 6000 year old skeletons.

I've used acrylic paint for this piece too.
