Also for the "3 quarters" I guess you mean how the body's distributed right? While it's normally 3 for the upper body, excluding the head, I usually use two quarters (excluding the head) that's usually employed in more cutesy/moe styles. But I can see where you're coming from as it's usually really hard to divide the body and using the head size and making the limbs according to these proportions. You can't usually tell something's off unless you take your time to look at it, hehe.
