Description I had some scrap yarn around that I didn't know what to do with so I started making a giant granny square. And after several hours: Afghan!

It measures 50.5" by 50.5"

this is the square that nev-er ends... yes it goes on and on my friend... some lady started hooking it not knowing what it was, and now she'll keep crocheting it forever just because this is the square that never ends...

Ooh, very pretty. Once I finally finish my friend's blanket it's the last granny square I will make for a while.

Yeah I was surprised myself. I also like how you can plan as you go with this type instead of doing all of the planning ahead of time.

Well, I recently made an afghan myself, but this just blows it the hell out of the water.

Nice job!

Thanks for the compliment. I've been debating on making another one just because its nice to have a big project that doesn't require much in the planning stages and that you can decide to stop when you like or just carry on for a long while.
Though I think if I do that I might look at trying a different shape. Maybe a triangle or a star or something.

Funnily enough, I want to make another afghan for much the same reasons

How did you do the variegated yarn and blue yarn combination in the second tier? It looks awesome!

I actually just switched from the blue to the variegated when I finished a row. I know it has an interesting effect but I think thats mostly just due to how the granny square works.
