I like the way you handle the visible section of her bust, the bubbles, her hair, and the expression on her face.
I think the rose stem might taper off a little too quickly... my eyes don't accept the rate at which it's shrinking, when she then seems to shrink back from her hand at the same rate. That might be solved with a little texture to make the end of the stem bend into the page.
I find myself thinking about the rose. Wondering where it's drifting to, and what exactly the color is refracting off of. I get the strong perspective and light/contrast-induced viewpoint that it's being pulled down, but the color bleeding is making me wonder.
-Relatedly, I now want to see a picture where someone chases something falling up... like a mermaid chasing a beautiful rising ice sculpture... the ideas of it are fascinating.

It's the bubbles and the light source - the bubbles don't give anything away, and the light is from behind her, which would only happen in morning or evening, but wouldn't typically seem so bright. So it led me to think more noon-1pm for the timeframe, which makes the source of light up. (but I was undetermined entirely so...) I can see it your way if I tilt my head. I do enjoy it!

Oh that's some great deductions. I must admit that when I approached this, it was more through feeling my way around it rather than making it correct in terms of up or down, etcetera. I just wanted a sense that the rose was drifting away into the darkness and the girl was left alone in the lighter areas. The light was used more for drawing the eye since the rose could be seen as dominant. The perspective was purposefully askew as well. I know it's hard to judge since I do more realistic angles in other paintings.
I can understand your thinking completely and I do like being able to see it in multiple ways. I have my personal thoughts but it's so interesting getting other people's perspectives. Thank you for the discussion.

I think this looser paintery style fits the 'romantic' qualities of the image, if that makes any sense. X3 The feeling of motion comes through great, and I love the detail of the air bubbles on the flower. And the water! The texture is amazing with the reflection.
