Description Finished this a few days ago, but DeviantArt was busy updating or something so I could not put this up. Anyway, this here is Alkali, fan character of mine. She turns into a semi-truck cab. Alkali is a chemist and an artist, the use the term artist a bit loosely.

I started with a cruddy sketch, scanned that, then proceeded (on other layers) to go over with the paintbrush and airbrush to shade it. Given that I was not using black lines to define the edges, colouring took a lot longer and a lot more thought than usual. Also, I was going for a slightly muted colour scheme. My intent was that you could still tell that Alkali is meant to be bright yellow ochre but that the brightness would not be glaring and plastic-looking. Fro another thing, I tried to use different colours to add depth. For example, with the optic band, I used magenta, red, orange, and yellow, in varying shades. Finally, I tried to make her design make sense for what she is. If you look at the Constructicons and Constructors, some prototypical Decepticon technicians, they tend to be brightly coloured and blocky. So I included such ideas in her design. Also, optic bands instead of separate optics seem to be fairly common amount Decepticon technicians. Out of the Constructicons, Hook, Scrapper, Bonecrusher, Long Haul, and Scavenger all have visors (and Devastator, the union of the Constructions, sometimes has a visor). Thus, visors seem fairly common amount Decepticon technicians, and I designed Alkali with a visor. Mixmaster, perhaps the only canon Decepticon chemist unless Mixing counts or something, has a helmet that comes to points at the top edges because of his chevron. I did not want Alkali to look like a Mixmaster clone, but I did give her a helmet that comes to points at the top edges to follow the general Decepticon chemist aesthetic. Given that she is an artist and that they tend to be a bit unconventional, I gave her spots, which tend to be a rather uncommon design. The antennae are there to give her added chemical sensitivity, akin to the role of the antennae of insects, and added chemical sensitively is useful for a chemist.

This picture has flaws, I know. All of my pictures do. I am still pleased with it.
