we fucked in the backseat of the chevy and watched cars slide past like red-ribbon ghosts in the rearview mirror while seth sat on the rusty hood and took pictures of orion coming up over the windfarm's jagged skyline. all we had left to smoke were old roaches and hemp dust. i felt like an empty burlap sack and missed being human and told this to the window and didn't get a response, but that's just the way things go when you're sitting in a borrowed truck breathing other people's air riding your own mortality all the way back to where you began. we found a centaur in the middle of the desert. somehow, knowing we weren't the only dying breed stranded on this dirty planet made it easier to continue.
