Description

I had a nightmare
that when I awoke
from heavy, drunken oblivion
his hands were in my bowels
picking through my insides
and leaving them strewn across my bed
where they coloured the sheets
the same way his hands and forearms were
painted with my blood.
Energy poured out of his eyes
with more vigor than the blood
that escaped the open premise
of my abdomen.
Such delight he found
in the terror that contorted my face
that he chuckled
in a low reserved tone
hidden under his breath.
The laughter.
It was the only thing
that remained of his sanity
and I found the sound
comforting amongst the mess
of my tangled intestines.
