it's pretty good, but the glaring thing that sticks out to me is an almost total lack of variation in line weight. you have the outline thickness, and then everything else is the same. in general, you want to use thicker lines to delineate areas of shadow and thinner ones closer to a light sources. there are also slight inconsistencies with the direction of the hatching, but that can be overlooked for the most part. the composition is nice. all in all, i think i like this one. you've done well so far, just keep improving, ok?

Thanks for the comments. The image is two years old, and I've been working a lot since then. I have a full set of pens now, so the line delineation is a lot better now, or I work digitally.

Sure. If you would prefer digital linework, in png format I have that as well, but I won't be able to get it out to you until Saturday night.

Thanks, I must confess that everything gets drawn in pencil first, I just don't upload that part. It's easy to have confident lines when you go back and erase the sketchy pencil.

I got better after I had to do a crow quill project for my 2D class a few years ago.

[link] check this sight out. I love crow quill pens and nibs. I haven't been using them lately, but I have several images in my gallery that are done with this set I'm showing you.

They can be a lot of fun, especially with some good quality india ink.

Did you draw this without any reference? It's very good, both the girl and the raven.
One suggestion would be to add to the area around the Raven's feet. Even if its talons aren't gripping the shirt, I think there would still be some indents or ripples or what have you. Maybe a shadow too.

I used reference for the bird, I've never really drawn animals and I knew I'd screw it up. Thanks for pointing that out about his talons. I'll fix that when I do the color.
